Local TV Revenue

Here in New York, I have YouTube TV and will lose YES. Not a huge loss for me personally, as I always buy the MLBTV package so I can watch the Tigers (out of state). I do know others with YouTube TV irate over losing YES, but not enough to switch back to cable or satellite.

Streaming services won't succumb to high access fees. That is what is dooming cable and satellite and driving their pricing. Eventually, unless a team owns its own sports network, there is going to be a huge drop in media revenue as people move away from cable/satellite and those stations are not picked up by streaming services. Supply and demand.

too bad all sporting events couldn't be pay per view. Access it any way you want (smart TV, phone, computer). They would still have commercials but only pay for what you watch. This would probably push owners of professional teams to put a good product on the field.
