Lombardi

Look, I wasn't a fan of the Swanson pick from the beginning, so I'm not going to go out and say that he would make a difference. His scouting report made him out to be a lot like Raiola: physically weak, not particularly athletic, but smart and experienced.

Getting an elite LT always helps, but probably doesn't fit our current cap structure.

I meant drafting a TE. That way it could help Both T's by moving Reiff. Go to free agency for a LG. OLINE solve, C is always the bad egg.

Yeah, I see literally zero chance the team drafting another TE. Pettigrew is still the blocking TE, Ebron and Fauria are the pass-catchers. The O-line needs to handle it's own business. If we are drafting a non-lineman just to help the OTs, we just need better OTs.

Never say never with this organization. Maybe they'll surprise us and take another TE or a WR.

That is the scouting report on Swanson. He is basically Raiola Part 2, he will be over matched by a lot of DTs, but will survive on competitiveness and intelligence. Sounds familiar.

I think initially that might be true. But Swanson was 6'5" and 312 lbs at the combine while Raiola is 6'1" 310 lbs. With the added size Swanson should be constantly in the weight room this season trying to bulk up. So I don't see Swanson as being another Raiola as long as he's able to put on a little more muscle, which shouldn't be too hard.

That's certainly the hope. Of course, there are also scouting reports that dinged him for having a narrow frame that wouldn't support much more bulk. Raiola was simply a better prospect coming out of college (he was a second rounder for a reason). Whether we call that justified or not is up to interpretation. Either way, we haven't seen anything from Swanson yet to say otherwise. My guess is that if he had been hitting the gym since he was drafted, and it was paying off, we would see him in jumbo sets or as a short yardage fullback or something. Dom is on a one year deal and unlikely to be back next year anyway. If Swanson was actually pushing to start, he would be starting.

I expect the team to be looking for linemen early in the offseason anyway, as Sims is getting older and could be wearing down. If we switch to Swanson, it might be easier to do so with two quality guards at his side.

I meant T, not TE. Bad typing.

There was talk last year "is the oline really that good or is it just because Matt gets rid of it quickly." Maybe we know now, a combination of both I guess. But I don't think a good oline goes to shit that quickly..I think a lot had to do with the quick release by Matt..

Bottom line....weve seen now that Lombardi cant run an effective offense with CJ out. offensive line blah blah satfford sucks blah blah.....no matter what the excuse there is still no plays being drawn up for anyone. It looked like he had a plan on the first drive. then his offensive playcalling was awful the rest of the game.
