Lou Whitaker, listed on the roster as "Sweet Lou." Perfect!

"The '95 season was Lou's 19th and final year. Whitaker hit for average and power in his career, and his glove was one of the best."

If I were to peg the votes from that 2019 Modern Era Committee: three of six players voted for Whitaker; maybe one GM; and two of four media members. Doubt I'm far off on that guesstimate.

Lou Whitaker's career WAR: 75.1. Ted Simmons, who absolutely deserved yesterday's HOF induction, had 50.3 WAR as a catcher. Still cannot fathom how the 16-person 2019 Committee granted Whitaker all of six votes. The group included six Hall of Fame players, GMs, and writers.

Lou Whitaker facts:
-He hit .302 in 92 games at the age of 36.
-hit 93 home runs from the ages of 20-29 in 1283 games.
-hit 151 home runs from the ages of 30-38 in 1107 games.

Whitaker and Tram. were slow starters with the long ball. Like any MIF were back then.

Had lou been even a 700 OPS guy against lefties he's in thr hall already. I think he gets in but it was a pretty decent hole in his game.

I guarantee no one looks at that. All I know is in his era, at the time he played -he's a hall of famer. He has the numbers. Always has.

Lou Whitaker had a 3.50 or higher for 15 seasons. Yes, 15 seasons! Every player with 15 or more seasons with a 3.50 or higher WAR is in the Hall of Fame. Lou is a Hall of Famer.

I was listening to the MLB network on xm radio today. They did the tiger's Mt Rushmore. They interviewed Jim Price and Lou came up in the conversation. One of the hosts brought up the point that Lou has a higher OPS+ and WAR than Jeter. Just more evidence that Jeter might be the most over rated player in MLB history.

Could be but 3000 hits always gets you in.
