Can't wait to see the $$$, it'll probably have an impact on Avril's demands. I really hope they didn't overpay...

The Colts and Robert Mathis have agreed to a long term contract, according to Bob Kravitz of the Indianapolis Star.
Mathis is one of the best pure pass rushers of his era, but we doubt he'll be worth the money. He's 31 years old and will be asked to adjust to Chuck Pagano's hybrid 3-4 scheme. Mathis and Dwight Freeney will remain a dangerous tandem, but this isn't a move that makes sense on a rebuilding team. We suspect owner Robert Irsay just wanted to retain one big star during a week that Peyton Manning will likely get cut.

Avril is no mathis...look at J Babi's 5yr $27 Mill if you want to compare two players

Why would Mathis take $5 million a year when they were about to tag him for $10.6?

Oh. If only Avril understood that comparison...

i hope MM explains it to him....

to late , he's tagged at 10.6....MM ain't explaining shit to him , he's looking for 8.5 - 10 million a year for 4 years is what the Lions beat guys are hearing.

Avril cares more about getting paid then he does about being on a winning team. Thats how it seems right now and thats a shame. He is a 7-8 mil a year guy who wants over 10. It will handicap this franchise.

Avril is asking for that, or Mayhew wants that? 8.5 sounds way better than 12...

There are winning teams willing to pay him. The Bears, for example.

Can't fault a guy for wanting to get the most he can get. Its probably his only chance to cash in big.

several teams want him....and if Houston re-signs Williams , Avril will be the top DE out there.

Ah, that makes more sense.

This could get really ugly if Avril agrees to $$$ with someone but Mayhew doesn't accept their trade offer. Which is why I think it may drag out.

Show him some game film of him getting blown up run play after run play
Show him the NO game when all the RT had to do is get 2 hands on him and he'd fly 15 yards down the field and land on his ass about 18 yards away from the play.
