Even though i highly doubt we will try to acquire him but what would you guys think it would cost to acquire him?

Jacob Turner, Ryan Raburn/Delmon Young, Casey Crosby, and Avisail Garcia?

I don't even think that would be enough especially with the Cubs front office now

Our rotation is all righties right now with JV, Fister, Max, Porcello and Turner, so I'd much rather trade for a solid mid-rotation lefty like Gio Gonzalez or Wandy Rodriguez. They've got similar stats to Garza and would probably cost less too.

I thought he wasn't available. And he's not worth any more than what you've listed, especially since he's only under team control for 2 more years.

Good, not great.

We would have the leading lefthander with Coke, and the leading righthander with Garza for most times spitting between pitches.

But cost probably too much in trade pieces, and as said another righty.

Understood, maybe i'm overrating him but i think he is a damn good pitcher that would dominate the AL central and be a great #2.

Would that same trade work for Gio Gonzalez?

I think Gio is way overrated. Rebbiv posted some scary numbers away from Oakland on him.

Garza is nice. I don't think he'd dominate in the AL central anymore than he has elsewhere. He's a good player, though. I do think that a team more desperate for starting pitching would over pay, and the Cubs could get a better package elsewhere. The Tigers could use him, but they'd probably want to pay less of premium because they aren't desperate for a starter.

And he is disgusting with the spitting. UGH.

Mat Latos made a pretty good run during the second half of the season, what do you guys think of him? His stats are probably much better because of the division and ball park he plays in but we said the same thing about Doug Fister and this guy throws heat and is only 24

no way the padres trade him. theyre cash-strapped and he's good, young and cheap.

Truly not a big fan, had a career year

not a "big fan" either, but he was healthy. Tall pitcher, alot like Fister and I think a similar repetoire.

A left handed starter would be better.

The Tigers would essentially have to clean out the cupboard to land a impact player, because the minors are not filled with great prospects. Teams like the Pads and Cubs are trying to restock their system.

I think the Tigers are better off dealing with a team that is dumping salary.

Only team i can think of is the Phillies and Cole Hamels. Would cost Turner, Castellanos, Garcia, Crosby, and Raburn/Young at least

Wandy Rodriguez? Is he on a less years remaining contract than what Buerhle is going to get?

from cot's contracts
Wandy Rodriguez lhp
3 years/$34M (2011-13), plus 2014 option
3 years/$34M (2011-13), plus 2014 club option
signed extension with Houston 1/25/11 (avoided arbitration, $10.25M-$8M)
$1.5M signing bonus
11:$7M, 12:$10M, 13:$13M, 14:$13M club option ($2.5M buyout)
option may become guaranteed based on performance
option becomes player option with trade.

The cubs gave up the farm for Garza. I would think they want a kings ransom in return. I would rather go after Wandy Rodriguez

Good example.

I think the jury is out on exactly how good Wandy is, but I think he'd be worth a shot if the price was low. I'm not sure what the Astros are planning with the new owner, but he's a good example of possible salary dump. They may take average prospects in return for not eating salary.

Of course, may as well just pay Buerhle his asking price.

Maybe this is a deal DD is quietly working on

Could be. DD does a nice job of staying under the radar on his trades.

Agreed. The nice part about us adding a guy like Wandy would be that we really don't need him to be a front of the rotation guy since we've already got Verlander, Fister and Good Max. If he could be better than Bad Max or Easy Breezy Ricky Porcheesy, we'd be upgrading the rotation.
