Pena seems to be the one most voters want with Benetti. He has MLB game and discussion experience from working on the MLB Network with all their pros.

The Detroit Tigers aren’t the only Detroit baseball group to move out of the cellar, or revamp their roster.
Their tv broadcast team is doing both as well.

In yesterday’s blog, we outlined the case for a number of former players who are currently auditioning to become Jason Benetti’s tv partner for next year. This person would offer color commentary.
For your consideration, here is some background on each:

Who would be your pick as the primary broadcast partner to Benetti?
Who do you think would be the best partner for Jason Benetti?

1. Alex Avila

2. Andy Dirks

3. Carlos Pena

4. Dan Petry

The 3rd game of this year's ALDS set an attendance record for Comerica Park. And it must have the Detroit Tigers thinking....

There is some concern over the potential loss/reduction in tv broadcasting fees given the Diamond/Bally bankruptcy and announcement they were dropping the Tigers. A lower contract could be negotiated still.

But a potential loss of $50 mill will impact payroll. Unless the Tigers decide that a significant boost in the roster will generate greater revenue via attendance and a playoff return to help offset a loss in broadcasting revenue. The next 2 months will tell us what they decide.
