Meyer NOT going to Ohio* now

Will hea naw I wirk for USPN an ah cooooched at Nreuter Dame and Ima till yew that USPN is a great place to work sure its not nowhere neer pacing the sidelines at Newruer Dame stadium with Tony Rice runinthat safisticated offense that I instituted when I was the caouch there but Neutre Dame is just about the bits gah-dam callige foobaw pragem in the nation its sure a lot bitter than South Carolina or any of the other 48 calliges I cached at except for maybe Minnisata.

Sort of funny how FoxSports broke a story this morning saying that there is a deal, meanwhile conflict of interest ESPN employee Meyer has to deny it.

FoxSports and Yahoo! are going to supplant ESPN in terms of actual sports journalism and Espn will becomes the Disneyland of sports.....all sanitized for your family enjoyment and agenda programming.

M&B... you start out by citing an example of a coach telling the truth, then saying that's why you don't listen to what coaches say "very much."

THEN you say "Even when it comes down to our own team we don't know much.", but a single instance of Hoke either misspeaking or intentionally misleading the fans/press hardly means we don't know much about our own team.

You = illogical person

This may be the first time I've ever defended M&B, but what he said was that Miles LIED about our contact with him and that's why he doesn't listen to what coaches say. That makes perfect sense.

oh. I read his comment wrong.

But I thought it was true that Miles had never talked to us. His homies reached out to BM, but no one ever responded. Hence, no discussion.

All this talk about coaches lying or deceiving the media when it comes to schools contacting them with offers, saying how much they want to stay where they are instead of taking any other job, etc....made me pause and remember how Hoke acted while still officially at SDSU and the UM job opened up. He flat out stated from the get-go that he wanted UM and would leave SDSU immediately.

Guess that goes to show there is a difference between Hoke and other coaches, at least when it comes to UM. As for his "lying about injuries to the media", I just chalk that up to gamesmanship and what is expected out of coaches. While somewhat frustrating to fans, it is their obligation to remain secretive about such things in order to protect the team overall. I'll trust what Hoke says over most coaches out there.

As for Meyer...I hope he does go to Ohio. I would not say his O won't work in the B1G as he used it effectively at Utah where they have some rough weather to contend with, so that argument is out. What will be interesting is the degree he can get the players he likes, criminals, while Ohio is under the microscope. Could lead to even more trouble for Ohio than they currently find themselves. I would like to think a respectable school would pursue someone other than Meyer, but I've never thought Ohio was respectable so won't be surprised to see it happen.

I don't care.. He is a piece of shit... I don't care what team he coaches... He is a rat faced whiney bitch like Rat Ve$t tre$$el was....

I don't know why every coach doesn't just say "I don't comment on my personal employment situation, except to confirm I am currently employed by 'X'." and then direct any inquiries to campus HR, and your AD. And most importantly, BE CONSISTENT. If you take that approach, you have to follow it every time.

No lying, no misleading denials, no weasel words necessary. If you're coaching in an upcoming game, follow it up with something like, "Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a team to coach and an opponent to prepare for."

the guys who outright deny it are either stupid, or arrogant. I get the sense they almost go out of their way to lie sometimes to show their contempt for the fans and the media, e.g. Nick Saban.

"I don't have to tell you anything; I can lie to your face, and it won't matter because of who I am."

I think the deal is done and it will be announced just before their bowl game.

If that's the case then it will leak well before then.

i still say meyer will end up there

Agreed. The day after Tressel was fired/retired, I predicted Fickell would coach this year then Meyer would be hired at the end of the season.

My local news is reporting rumors of a 7 yr/$55 mil deal on the table for him. $55 mil is insane.

LMAO!! First it was 7yr, $35M ...then $40M and now $55M?? Even Ohio* isn't that stupid!

Can one ever underestimate the stupidity of Ohio*?

What choice do they have if Urban says no and the NCAA hammers them like they should then it may be hard to get someone else with a name to take the job. Any coach there has to know the NCAA will have a close eye on them.

Which would be why Meyer is holding out for $50+ million in 7 years, and probably wants $10 mil his 1st year. He needs every penny he can get before the NCAA finds him in violation over any number of highly probable situations as he doesn't run a very clean program nor tight ship. He's smart enough to know he can get paid big money and will take full advantage of Ohio being in a tight corner.

Hoke I think could have gotten more money but he wanted the job more than an extra few million. For the kind of money they are paying him they will expect him to win every game every year. I dont see him being there more than 5 years with all their outlandish expectations. If they can force Herbie to leave the state the same can and will be done with Urban if he loses to us 2 years in a row?

Nick Saban, University of Alabama: $5.9 million
Mack Brown, University of Texas: $5.1 million
Bob Stoops, University of Oklahoma: $4.3 million
Urban Meyer, University of Florida (resigned after season): $4 million
Les Miles, Louisiana State University: $3.9 million
Jim Tressel, Ohio State University (resigned after season): $3.8 million
Kirk Ferentz, University of Iowa: $3.7 million
Jim Frobe, Wake Forest University: $2.9 million
Mark Richt, University of Georgia: $2.9 million
Bobby Petrino, University of Arkansas: $2.7 million

"Retired" at $4M ...... Rumored 7yrs @ $35M is $5M/yr and 7yrs @ $40M is equal to Saban. How could a state school like Ohio* go out and pay a coach $7.9M per year, or about $2M/yr over the highest salary ever?!?
