Michigan at Northwestern game thread

Patterson is damn good. He's not our problem. It's our O-line and overrated head coach.

Harbaugh is mediocre. He is stuck in 1984 football and that doesn't work unless you can recruit like Bama.

Jim should give half his salary to JB every year.

I agree only remotely innovative play was Higdon?s second td run. Spread the field . They think pass . Do a very quick hitter up the middle.

Hope they play better next week vs Maryland. I will be there if my back holds up this week.

Yep, Higdon just smashed into the line on 1st and 10 for a 1 yard gain again...and again... and again...

Those 1st down play calls in the 4th were really bothering me. They KNEW we were running it up the gut every time and just stacked the box. Higdon didn't have a chance.

Pat Fitzgerald is a good coach, and this was a bigger game for NW than it was for us.

once we withstood the best they could muster, we outscored them 20-0 and left 8 pts off the board by missing short TD passes, while holding them to 97 total yards over that period.

we should've blown them out, but we didn't. oh well.

I'm not disappointed with the result. It was a wake up call we probably needed.

We lose this game last year with O'Korn or Peters. I thought Patterson saved our bacon quite a few times in that second half. Nice to finally have a playmaker at that position.

I am disappointed at the overall level of play, and the team looked ill prepared on the road yet again. I truly believe the coaching staff is instructing our secondary to interfere or hold rather than give up a long bomb because they know our guys can't cover the deep ball well. Never seen one team get flagged for so many calls like that and a lot of them were just shake your head blatant.

It's a good character win, and hopefully it is a wake up call as champ mentioned, and they use it to their advantage.

That run(the Higdon phantom hold) was fucking awesome. Afterwards(after screaming at the refs), I thought that play, right there, is going to win us a really important game down the road.

Patterson made great plays in the 4th but earlier missed some throws. yeah if Mckeon catches that perfect pass early his whole day may have been better . I am still of the opinion McCaffrey has way more upside . I could be wrong . I just wish Jim would stop with the transfer players and develop his guys he recurits which seem to be getting better .
Patterson did have some very key runs . He played great late . Finally a great design running play for the winning TD.

Patterson is his guy now. He is developing.

Peters, McCaffrey, and Milton are all developing. They aren't just sitting around. I'm sure that McCaffrey will be the man next year or the year after, depending on Patterson's situation.

Yep. Especially considering some of that 97 that NW got was that last drive that meant nothing.

Patterson has been with Michigan since before spring practice. He is Harbaugh's guy now. Harbaugh is developing all 4 of his QB's.

Totally agree. Wish our qb had the guts to change the play.

Why? Patterson has one more year left and McCaffrey is a RS feshman.

I think he is a redshirt sophmore . I just worry that he may go. These kids want to play. I sure want to see him on the field .I think he will be something. If they all three stay we may have a decent run a qb .. I heard Milton is a Alpha Male according to Jim. Whatever that is. Plus don't they have a couple coming in.

Was at a wedding yesterday and missed the game, but just finished watching it and I gotta say I’m losing confidence in Harbaughs play calling. SMH!

No. Last year was his first and he red shirted. He's a RS freshman.

Peters might transfer, but I'm not worried at all about McCaffrey transferring.

McCaffrey won't transfer and is arguably as talented as Shea, without the experience. I expect Peters will go somewhere else.
