Michigan wide receivers are healthy and good to go!!

We won't - we can't -beat the "semi-pro" teams: OSU, Alabama, Georgia, or Clemson. And maybe Oklahoma and Texas A&M if Jimbo and the TAMU money men get their act figured out. I've accepted this.

I've also accepted a couple other things:

1) that the NCAA is going to allow there to be semi-pro teams, without penalty or consequence, and so I shouldn't be surprised that a sport played on a "slanted field" tends to result in one outcome occurring repeatedly; and

2) with a couple exceptions, our coaching staff is more "mercenary" than "family" as it was under Bo, Mo, and Lloyd (but at least they are somewhat competent, unlike RR's or Hoke's staffs). And some of this "ethic" certainly rubs off on the players, so I've also considered that the coaches and players on the field don't represent the university as much as they represent their own bank accounts.

Both of these things are what they are, and I can not change them, but as a consequence, I'm not going to give much of a shit if we win or lose.

I'm going to see how this new approach to Michigan football fandom works out for me this season.

Yes, but at least we'll have an defense this time.

And also, unlike the RichRod years, the Nefarious Lloyd Carr isn't trying to bring down Michigan football anymore. We saw what he was capable of: he transformed from being a bumbling, incompetent "worst football coach ever," to being a master Machiavellian manipulator, capable of causing our program to lose games and recruits, all through spreading rumors and other tactics which no one could even discover or fathom.

Don't underestimate the latter...

re: about not giving a bleep if they win or lose.

EXACTLY how I feel about the Lions. Honestly, it will take them a playoff win to get my emotions back into it. I still get upset if Michigan loses in football, but I guess as I get older, it's just not as much. After dealing with Appy State, I'm not sure if it will get much lower than that.

I have read hundreds of articles since Harbaugh took over hearing about how great things are going to be.

Honestly, I'll believe it when I see it.

yeah things have really sucked under his watch. but to your prior post ...we have a new OC, so your complaint about the offense - to this point run by Harbaugh - seems antiquated and whiny.

38 wins in 4 seasons

yeah, yeah, I know, none of them count

Harbaugh's been good. He's being paid to be great. He's the third highest paid coach in college football. I'd say he's falling well short of the other coaches in his pay tier.

Not sure why you are getting all aggro about my post. Things went from absolutely horrible to good. He wasn't brought here, given the red carpet treatment, and given a crazy salary to be a good coach. He's gotta be better. Every fan has a different baseline for success. If you are OK with what he's been doing, that's fine. We can just accept that Michigan is a good, but not great program. I just want to see them win stuff that matters.

Why's that? As I mentioned before, there's been plenty of conversation about how things will change and the teams will finally catch up with the times, but there's been far from that. So until I see this so-called modern offense that has been praised to the high heavens, I'll hold my judgement on Gattis and what he actually is allowed to do.

I have never understood why anyone cares about how much a coach is paid. I'm not paying him.

After watching Rich Rod and Hoke blunder through 7 seasons, I enjoy all of the wins.
