He tweeted this when we were down the two TD's ...I have seen some of you guys say he is a pretty good sports guy. I personally think he is a chump and cannot/will not take him seriously.

Thats from is twitter .

Lions exposed. No miracle dust this week. Should have 6 wins. Lucked into 8. Terrible today.

Valenti is a sparty fan...case closed.

I know he is from New York..and he has admitted that he is not a fan of Detroit teams..but he does work in Detroit and he seems to go out of of his way to blast the city and the teams. He reminds me a lot of Rob Parker..and I cant stand him either.

Where did I say I was shocked? I just think he's an idiot and don't understand why he has a job as a sports radio host in Detroit when he obviously can't stand the place.

I never understand why hire a guy who not a fan of the teams here. He can be a NY'er and be a Knicks fan or NYG fans but still root for Detroit for example instead of costent bitching. Reminds me of Millen who'd spend the week elsewhere and just be in town for games.

Valenti is a clown....end of story.

He'll shrug off the win like he usually does. But in the process, hammer on the Lions and their penalties. especially Suh's 2 offside penalties. And he probably won't even say a thing about Suh blocking the FG attempt. Fuck him and his holier than though attitude. He's one guy i'd love to cave the side of his head in.

To be fair, the Lions' wins this year have been pretty unimpressive (outside of a couple). They've come from behind in late fashion like 4 or 5 times.

Unimpressive? They just had a freakin' 99 yard drive for a winning TD with 39 second to go. They make games exciting, a little nerve racking but they're not unimpressive.

In the NFL, you don't get style points for winning.

I don't mind that he's not a fan, in fact I'd wish they'd do it more around the country. If every host on every show is a Detroit fan it's likely to be a homerfest 24/7.

Like I said, be happy about a team that most of your listeners root for? If you're talking about the show being broadcast around the country, no - not Valenti :)

I'm talking about local shows having non local hosts.

If the show every afternoon was a 4 hour circle jerk for Detroit sports teams, nobody would listen to it.

Is it any different than a Detroit sports host saying, "you guys suck, you guys will lose, you guys got lucky, you guys are blah blah blah". Then it becomes a circle jerk of disagreement, in fact thats what we have now. 6 of one, half a dozen of the other. Though personally I've never listen to the show :) .

But having a semi positive Detroit show with varying opinions is better than constent hating.

Mike is the hater and Terry is the homer, it creates controversy and thus people listen to it.

You need someone like Valenti to make the sports talk forum work. You need a guy who makes everyone's blood boil and is highly critical. If we didn't have these talk radio shows then we wouldn't have to dissect every win...you could actually just enjoy it. Instead we have to spend time picking apart every play negatively. Negative sells in our culture.

Sports talk (and yes even these message boards) have made people overly critical, highly negative and even delusional at times (yes, the always positive homers are just as bad). And usually 8 out of 10 callers are absolute morons about sports. They are just reactionary.

I agree with Valenti on many things...but when he is losing an argument or gets called out for being wrong...he just starts to scream loudly at the person or just yell and change the subject until he declares himself the winner. That's his schtick. He's never going to be wrong.
