Milwaukee 107 Detroit 104 Final

Technically Kennard, but his shot was off all night. After him, Blake is literally our best 3 point shooter. He's actually shooting pretty well (~37%), but let that sink in.

I've been saying this since the coach said this team was going to shoot more 3. WE DON'T HAVE THE PERSONNEL FOR IT.

Well to some degree it's still worked. Blake has really stretched his game and is a better player than he's ever been. Bullock has also been struggling due to injuries. If Kennard and Bullock could get up to the 40% mark, I think the lean toward threes would be a good thing (it stretches defenses even if we don't convert, and we have a monster rebounder to help turns some of those misses into extra possessions).

But you're still right. This team was at least one offseason away from having the personnel to go big on threes. Of course, we could have said that ever since the rebuild started. It's like the Pistons were the only team in the league that didn't get that memo that 3>2.

We hit 14 threes tonight Bullock is a fine three point shooter. Johnson was hot tonight in the fourth . Both were better options then Blake tonight from three. But tonight he was the third option from three. He ended up with a look he can hit. He just didn’t. He had 10 turnovers tonight as the Bucks were all over him, and he really has been forcing a lot. 5 assist and 10 turnovers form Blake tonight. It says some something that Jackson has been on the bench in the 4th quarter of games recently. Is it Drummond? He had only 10/14. He just does not have a offense move at all, and no shot.

The team is 29th in 3-point shooting. While taking the 10th most. Those don't add up..

There's a fair question as to where those shots should be otherwise allocated. Even if we aren't hitting outside shots, the general threat if an uncontested 3 opens more space on the court. If we took fewer threes, would it be as simple as converting more shots, or would defenses actually pack the paint harder and further gum up our offense.

I'm trying to find the data/article, but I remember seeing that the Pistons actually have some of the highest shot quality in the league (and underperform it by the most). What that means is that we are taking the best shots we can. That we have so many garbage players doesn't change that we are still trying to maximize the talent we have.

I guess we can only shoot with the players we have. Had two cracks to tie last night . Maybe because AD is offensively limited they didn’t want to try a play for two with 14.4 seconds left. Team really needs a point guard badly.
