MSU basektball recruiting

Looks like Tucker is going to IU who also seems to have cleaned up in the portal. Must be nice to have a coach that realizes the value of the portal.

I guess Izzo does probably realize the value to some extent as it offered a way to get rid of Sissoko and AJ "Side Show Bob" Hoggard...

Shooting guard Jalen Haralson, the 5 star, 14th ranked recruit in 2025 from Florida, who now plays at La Lumiere, (which I think i've mentioned in the past is a high school in La Porte, IN that my recently departed, amazing uncle helped found along with some of his friends in the Michigan City, IN area) is announcing his commitment tonight. It wasn't a basketball factory when my cousins went there. Really, it wasn't until very recently that it became an elite hoops schools. It was mostly a kinda wealthy to uber wealthy kids prep school. My cousins would tell me stories about one of the Coors kids getting picked up in a helicopter on the football field to go home for the holidays. But now, they pump out 5 stars like they're the IMG of the north.

Anyway, it's down to IU, ND & MSU. I don't pay for premium content on any sports site so I don't know what the crystal balls are saying but according to one article, IU is favored (35%) followed by ND (22%) then MSU with with a 15% chance. That's only 72% so not sure what the other 28% is considering he's announced he is only considering those 3 at this point.

We've had some success w/ La Lu kids in the past and we seem to be in the mix with him. I'm assuming he's not coming to MSU but I'm curious to know if that MSU lacky (Thind maybe?) had his crystal ball for MSU and switched it at the last minute to keep his 100% accuracy rating.

There weren't any crystal balls for the kid. Somehow he was able to keep it down low right up until he committed to ND.

Maybe he kept it under wraps because he was embarrassed about his career ending decision…

IU I get but why would he pick a mediocre ACC team? Maybe he wants to be the next Lafonso Ellis…

I know he’s a class of 2026 kid but how does Jaxon Richardson not have an offer from MSU? Even if he’s not currently interested, at least show some interest…

Sounds like he's told them he wants to form his own path.

Yeah, I saw that but he's still worth offering especially considering he hasn't ruled MSU out at this point, at least according to some sources. Some seem to think it's down to Bama and uofm but others say it's really early and he is just taking his time, considering all options.

There's no downside to offering him and at least some downside to not.

Izzo has known the kid his entire life. I'm certain he has an offer if he wants it. Maybe there's a limit on how many offers you can't hand out?

I don’t think there is a limit on offers but there obviously is on scholarships. I’m sure izzo doesn’t run his program like Saban at Alabama kicking kids out of school in the first week because he doesn’t have enough scholarships.

Iant it more like the opposite with Izzo? I seem to recall a couple times where he sat on a scholarship instead of addressing a need with it.

Anyway, even if it’s symbolic, he should offer him.
