MSU Football recruiting

It's too bad Smith can't recruit high school players. I see we got an official visit from a 4 star OT and still didn't make his final list. No reason should we be mainly recruiting against MAC schools going into his 3rd class.
Is that the kid that was a legacy who ended up committing to ND? I think we were behind uofm on his list too.

That sucks but I'm not gonna bang on Smith too hard for the last point about competing against MAC schools - that's been every MSU head coach's problem for decades. Other than 2009 and 2016 (which ended up being a total disaster), we've never really competed with the top 3 B1G programs when it comes to recruiting. Tucker did have 2 classes in the 40s followed by 2 classes in the mid 20s, but his teams were complete dumpster fires - he seemed to think recruiting=coaching.

I'm not saying it's OK but it seems to be our reality, which blows my mind given the resources we have and exposure we get. That said, Smith's 2025 class was a big drop off - he definitely needs some success on the field to turn it around to consistently getting classes in the 30s or better.

That was gregory patrick. The recent one was kelvin obot from Idaho. We got the only official so far and didnt make his top 5 which kinda makes me think it went horrible. USC, Utah, Nebraska, Oregon and UM are his final 5. Plus it sounds like he fumbled another legacy recruit last cycle in Strayhorn.
