MSU Football recruiting

Any players coming to MSU via the portal?

Here's an article on the players who are leaving MSU. LINK

In the interest of The Abolished Fairness Doctrine, 13 University of Michigan players are transferring out.

I didn't realize Jack Carson-Wentz decided to snap balls over the some other punter's head next year. Plus Charles Brantley makes 10 with more to come I'm sure. Last year we lost 39 players to the portal - mostly MAC level talent or worse.

Other than Brantley and maybe Glover (marginal 3rd option receiver), they're mostly guys that didn't see the field much or at all. Not sure how to interpret that - it is less than half the number that entered last year but a pessimist might say it means we're just keeping more guys that suck at football.

So far, I'm not a aware of anyone that has committed from the portal but saw a couple headlines about guys taking visits or talking to coaches. I don't know how all this works, but I thought people couldn't officially enter the portal until the 28th (don't recall where I heard that) and all these announcements were "intent" to enter. I don't know when they can be contacted or take visits or commit.

Marsh indicates he’s coming back for another season. Hasn’t officially declared it but hasn’t entered the portal and recently tweeted “Go Green!” Which is being interpreted as the same as saying he’s staying.

MSU landed a speedy wr from MTSU/Auburn. Omari Kelly was 45th ranked transfer on Rivals. Glover was our highest ranked departing transfer wr at #486. The other 3 are ranked 545, 550 and 553 in the portal. It seems we brought in a much more talented wr than what left.

We also brought in another turd IOL from Oregon State.

Saw those this weekend - the WR definitely looks like an upgrade. I’m going to hold off on any excitement about Oregon State transfers for a bit - they’ve been more miss than hit so far. It’s a position of need and prob tough to be worse than what we have so fingers crossed…

Added another speedy wr from the portal today. Chrishon Mccray from Kent State. That's 2 guys to fill a need we badly needed this year. The RJ Shelton/Jalen Nailor type wr that can take screens and quick slants and make plays. Should take some pressure off Chiles to not have to try to do too much.

Now get a rb and some more OL and go hard on defense.

Interesting article - this Matt Schmidt thinks we are at risk of losing Chiles to a better program next year.

While I agree the o-line is the biggest weakness for this team and it’s true chiles had a limited group of receivers to throw to, he doesn’t seem to be placing any blame at all on Chiles for his “inconsistent” play.

Seems like they have addressed the WR problem in the portal - fingers crossed they can be legit P4 receivers. Now if we can get an o-line that can get the running game in the top 50 and not give up 30 sacks, we’ll see if Chiles makes any progress.

Personally I think if we improve OL, WR and RB and Chiles plays lights out (not my call, but if) then we’re probably at greater risk of losing him. If none of that happens and he plays like he did, I’d say good luck to the guy, because Texas probably isn’t calling him.

Spartans pick up FCS transfer running back. Elijah Tau Tolliver from Sacramento State.

He has one year of eligibility left.

A couple days old but but Spartans pick up FSU DT Grady Kelly. The 2x transfer started his college career at Colorado State before transferring to the Seminoles and will have 1 year of eligibility in East Lansing.
