This is an odd team. Don't seem to have a go to guy, a floor leader, or someone that scares the defense. Not sure I've ever seen that from an Izzo team. Still enough talent to win games like this.

I won't be greedy because I'd rather win the big games in March than December, but God damn it I am sick of losing these types of games.

No, w don't suck, we're just down two key contributors and playing our 4th game in 7 days. Izzo needs to not be so fucking stupid with his scheduling, he says it every year but never changes. 6 of 8 away to start, that could kill your rpi and confidence.

I am confident this team will be fine though

I agree about the scheduling, he does literally have a quote every year along the lines of "I am the dumbest scheduler in America." Then do something about it and stop saying it!

I think the biggest disappointment is the fact that Costello can't play inside. Schilling has outplayed him in my opinion but Schilling is also not a guy you can throw the ball to and he can get you a bucket. If this team had Nix they would be undefeated now. I really believe that. Right now it's just mid range jump shots and three pointers. Dawson misses the most layups out of any player in America.

It's easy to say that about Nix, but he's been gone 2 years, so it's irrelevant I believe, it would be different if he left as a freshman or something and still had eligibility.

This team doesn't shoot many free throws because they don't have guys who can get to the basket or score in the post consistently. They will live and die by the three offensively other than the nights when Dawson can give them points.

With that said, I'm not going to panic yet. Losing on the road vs an NCAA bubble team in overtime isn't the end of the world. Heck, UM lost 4 non-conference games last year and things turned out alright for them in the end.

I'm bullish on this team long term with Bess and Ellis, I guess Bess more than Ellis but we should be in good shape come big ten time.

Recruiting has been problematic lately due to the shady nature of the high end recruitments. we should be able to get a class like 2015 every year with one top 25 guy and some other top 100 players to round it out. No use comparing to Kentucky or Kansas because they cheat but we should recruit better than we do.
