MSU third round

What the hell is with Winston missing all these 4 footers tonight????

What a strange game. Up 15 most of the second half and yet it never felt secure. LSU was as advertised. Athletic and long and at times explosive, but undisciplined and soft defensively. How about those freshmen?

Glad to hear the news isn't too bad with Ward. We'll need him vs Duke (yes I'm making an assumption there).

I will never root for a random ass team as hard as I root for Va Tech tonight

I think with the way the committee dicked them it would only be fitting at this point if they went through Duke to get to the Final Four and won the region anyway. It would also be in line with the way this team has overcome things all year.

Bottom line. If we play like we did tonight, we will beat anyone left in the field.

Just a total effort and a complete game.

I know everyone openly wonders how the heck we'll match up with Zion. But should the Duke team that's been playing so far in the tournament scare anyone? I am not going to as far as to say they've been lucky, but they are just scraping by.

Let Jones shoot. He shot well tonight, but I?ll take my chances with him chucking.

i hope izzo is watching the UCF/dook film for the 3rd time this morning. i think thats the formula - u cant stop Zion but if u can shut down or at least disrupt the rest of the team, they are definitely beatable.

all i know for sure is we better enjoy it while it lasts. i was reading the uofm board yesterday where the smartest and most knowledgable guy there pointed out that this is all just luck. Apparently Izzo has struck gold w/ a bunch of weird players - the island of misfit toys of college basketball if you will. next year, the program that wins BTTs and goes to the finals (w/o any luck) and the best coach in CBB will restore order to the universe and we will be relegated to our traditional and rightful position as an also ran.

its definitely true that he is the smartest poster over there because I'm told he actually graduated from MSU. so lets just enjoy it while we can and hopefully create some great memories!!!

All we need is a 7-6 guy to make that work.

What's funny about Zion is that Duke doesn't run a lot of stuff for him and there were lots of times last night where he didn't seem that involved. VT did a good job of stripping him a couple of times and also getting in front of him for charges (pretty brave). And he still scored 23 on 11-14 shooting. Not having Reddish hurt them a bit mostly because their depth is so bad. But Barrett's the guy who when he is playing well makes them impossible to beat. When he's not, well he's going to still try to go out and get his, whether it works or not.

I really hope Ward is able to go. I could see this being a game where we could go to him. Jones is a really good defender and is going to make it harder on Cassius. McQuaid needs to have a big game but Duke has lots of length on the wings. But down on block could be where there are some opportunities. And obviously shooting like they did last night is pretty much a must.

And quite frankly I'm tired of hearing about Duke. They've just been scraping by this tournament and still that makes them and Zion a story. MSU this year has had one of the quietest outstanding seasons I can remember by any team (other than everyone getting in an uproar because Izzo yells sometimes).

u dont need the 7'6" guy. UCF had him and zion got 30-something, much of it inside, plus Fall was in foul trouble early and didnt play a big chunk of the 1st half. im not saying dont guard zion just dont spend everything trying to shut him down. he'll get his. i think the way to imprive your chances is to not let the others beat you and like you said, move the ball, take what you can get and shoot the lights out.

Duke -1.5 is the betting line. We should be favored IMO, but refs give Duke 4 points.
