MSU vs Harvard

Ballgame!!!! Good god that was rough. Kudos to Harvard, but with the way the game is called now it doesn't bode well for us. Fouls will more than likely be our death.

They'd better adjust. Because that's how it going to be all tournament. It should be interesting if Virginia is the next opponent as they're pretty physical too.

was a great game. couple costly turnovers by Harvard at the end. they got a lot of ticky tack calls to put them on the line while msu seemed to be getting hacked all game with no calls. The free throw line made it a closer game than it should have been.

Feel happy to avoid that disaster. Weve YET to play 2 good halfs this year, who was that other team the 2nd half? Happy for the win but thats lame to almost blow a game that should have been locked up. Appling is just a shell of his former player, poor guy

How do you tell someone to stop playing tough defense though. It's the part of their game that separates them from most teams.

Some of that may be fatigue, you reach more when tired. You get beat off the dribble and try to chase the ballhandler through the lane

80 total fouls?
*rolls eyes*

This tournament is peppered with fouls, there has to be a sit down end of the year with league officials and refs.

After the season is done, I am almost certain that news will come out that Appling will have surgery on his wrist. I don't for a second buy that his wrist is not bothering him. It is almost impossible to have 0 offense after what he was doing to teams earlier this year.

Agree, he isnt even attempting shots when he does hes consistently short.

You may be right. It's hard to tell if it's physical or mental at this point. Missed shots can mess with your head regardless of the reason, and until he sees a few go down his confidence might still not be there.

I'm not sure the team can advance much further with him going 0-2 from the field playing extended minutes.

the PG spot is evolving, Trice is handling the scoring load and Appling is playing walton type basketball. he's defending and pushing the ball on the break, driving occasionally. it's not ideal but we're piecing it together with him and Trice

it was nice to hear about the huddles last night. coach was telling them what to do, trice and DV just told him to diagram a play, they had it, they knew what to correct. also, denzel stood up and said that we needed to run some plays for Harris, then Harris hit that big 3

This is true and with Payne and Harris as go to guys and other guys stepping up their scoring throughout the year we don't need him to average 15-16 a game like we was earlier on, but 8-10 would be good. He's not really doing much to attack the basket either. Granted teams are playing off of him, but I think lacking confidence at the foul line is another reason he isn't looking to do that.

If his wrist supposedly isn't bothering him anymore (and who knows what to believe there), he shouldn't be missing so short or barely getting arc on his shot the way he is now. It looks like his shot from 2 years ago again.
