My predicted 25 man roster after two ST games.

Quintin Berry is making some noise with his bat and speed. That guy covers as much ground in CF as Jackson, maybe more.

A 27-year old minor leaguer with only 18 ABs above AA. I could care less what he does in the month of March, because he has no business making an ML roster.

I remember the old days when ST would start and you'd see guys you never heard about before but they'd be 19, 20, 22 years old. Now you have guys who are 27, 30 plus and it doesn't excite me. Just taking up space.

You are right. Adding to this, there was a time and place where your AAA team didn't have many players older than 25. Toledo had about 8 players that got significant time in 2011 that were older than 25. Timo Perez at 36!

Most of the players signed to minor league contracts and invited to Spring Training are organizational fodder type. They are signed with the intent that they become back-ups at AAA to the Major Leaguer. In Berry's case, I pretty much expect DET to put him at AAA and call him up if Jackson goes down.

Now, keep in mind, most of these guys are not on the 40-man roster. You would have to move someone to the 60-day DL or drop someone else from the 40-man roster to make room for them.

Right. I was just saying he stood out because of his speed.
