Native Americans to Ted Nugent: STFU and GTFO

I'm not a huge fan of that particular song, but aren't you the grumpy old man today.

"911 is a Joke," "Welcome to the Terrordome," "Burn, Hollywood, Burn," "War at 33 1/3" and "Can't do nuttin for ya man" are all better. Chuck D's rap on "War at 33 1/3" is the most intense ever.

Does 33 1/3 have to do with the rotation of a vinyl album?

EDIT; I thought my crack about Chuck D remaking an old Isley Brother's love ballad with Rod Stewart was a pretty good one.

If that's what they're talking about, 45 is the other speed that rings a bell, so "at 33 1/3" would mean "in slow motion" (and lower in pitch, but that's probably not what they're getting at.)

edit: Just looked at the lyrics.
War at 33 1/3 not really live
I rather do it at 45

So it's about going faster.

I just listened to it on youtube.

Taylor Swift does some pretty good songs these days.

I didn't get it, but now that you explained the Isley Brother's connection I do.

Perhaps these tribal leaders in Idaho are concerned the Motor City Madman will mistake some of them for being "illegals" and try to kill them with his patriotism and freedom.

Welll..Nugent is a pussy and wouldn't have teh gonads to shoot at anything that could shoot back, so yeah maybe he could killem with his red-blooded "real" Murkin patriotism instead.

I take it back; it isn't much of a remake except for the one line.

The rest of the Chucky Dee version sucks.

I think it's fair to say most Hip Hop samples MoTown and other, older music.

Hell, Wild Cherry never did near as well with their "Play that Funky Music White Boy" as Vanilla Ice did!

I think it's also fair to say most hip hop sucks...

Eminem's theme for 8 Mile was pretty catchy.

I like Ice Cube's Today was a Good Day.

The one where Snoop is sippin' on gin and juice with his mind on his money and his money on his mind kinda is good.

It humorously integrated/parodied a number of themes and motifs in this thread since the tread moved to the Alan Colmes/Chuck D thing...

I have my favorites as well, but most of it (including virtually everything by PE) sucks. The same can be said for pop music.

Maybe he should try the even faster 78 rpm, like my mother's old hand-crank phonograph with the "morning-glory" speaker, that played 1/4 inch thick Edison records.

That is so cerebe.

So nix on Taylor Swift?

Taylor Swift or Taylor Swift's music? Can't say I'm all that familiar with the latter as I hardly ever listen to the radio anymore - I listen to my ipod while commuting or if I ever have to drive very far. Lately, I've been listening to a lot of The Clash (my 3 year old loves Rock the Casbah and Bankrobber - she also requests Crazy Train occassionally), some Queen, a little Fleetwood Mac and pre-Joshua Tree U2 and coincidentally, some Ladies Love Cool James.

Well, as they say, taste is not arguable. However, the millions of people who bought their albums, almost all music critics who reviewed their albums, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and the Library of Congress, and I do not agree with you.

Millions of people bought albums from the New Kids, Backstreet Boys, In Sync, the Spice Girls, Justin Bieber, etc. But as they say, there's no accounting for taste. And my opinions aren't formed by what critics have to say about anything - I don't care what Vibe magazine thinks of PE or anything for that matter. Same for Rolling Stone. Have fun visiting the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame - you going to have dinner at TGI Friday's after? Better yet, is there a Hard Rock Cafe in Cleveland?

I'm 99% sure you're goofing with me and playing dumb.

We'd have to go all the way back to Shirley Temple and The Good Ship Lollipop to find anything that contrasts more with Public Enemy than Taylor Swift.

And that includes the University of Michigan Mens' Glee Club.

Did you know that the University of Michigan Mens' Glee Club is the oldest student organization on that campus?

Because Wikipedia sure as shit does.

Really!?! Cool fact! Thanks for bringing that to my attention.

The Glee Club sings a lot of songs about drinking and getting drunk; when I just performed with them in San Francisco, we sang a song in some foreign language (I think German) about drinking and getting drunk.

In Taverna, I think was the name.

Not Public Enemy, but far from The Good Ship Lollipop also.

Yet - I only tell you what you already know.

Do you get e-mails from any Glee Club organization; either the alumni organization, or the club itself?

A little. I know that song about never getting back together (she's like today's Alanis Morrisette) and if one of her other songs was on the radio I could probably identify it as a TS song but I couldn't name any of them. Maybe you should have gone with Katy Perry, her music stinks but for some reason, I find her videos interesting.

Edit - and I did know the Glee Club was the oldest student organization at the uofm AND I also knew that wikipedia also knew the Glee Club was the oldest student organization at the uofm

You're completely wrong.

Katy Perry is nowhere near as far away from Public Enemy as Taylor Swift.

Nor Lady Gaga.

Not even Madonna, who for a semester went to Michigan, fergawdsakes!!!

Remember - we have to go all the way back to Shirley Temple and The Good Ship Lollipop to get any further away from Public Enemy than Taylor Swift is - and yes, that DOES include the Carpenters!!!

Captain and Tenielle even!!!

Start paying attention here!!!!

Get it?
