Drake Johnson 2star RB from AA Pioneer...Does this put us out of the running for Dunn?

Nice but i would prefer a higher rated kid at running back..

Well, he's fast....

55m hurdles - 7.76, set AAU Indoor National Record.

60m hurdles - 8.09, ranked in top ten in the country, indoor 2010

110m hurdles - 14.16, fastest freshman time run in the country.

I think all the gay ass OSU garb he was wearing on his visit to columbus was a pretty good sign.

Is this a good thing? Why a 2 star back. The review on Mgoblog leaves me confused as to why the coaches would pursue him. He only has 1 other offer to EMU. I know he will probably set the MHSFB rushing recored, but where is the enthusiasm.

We should probably start questioning Hoke's recruiting ability.

Sounds like he could be a Tyrone Wheatley type of running back, if you remember, he was a track guy to and he had some power as well.

Considering this is the first questionable recruit in the entire class ranked #2 in the country...I don't think so mr. sarcasm. If he didn't have 11 other four stars, you might have a point.

It's rare, but some 2 star athletes turn into good payers. We ( MSU ) have a couple low star players that are big contributors. I believe Pickelman, Trenton Robinson and Darqueze Dennard were all 2 stars and they are all starters. Heck T-Rob was pre season B10. A lot of times it's about development. RR didn't develop players, something tells me Hoke will, due to his past coaching experience.

BTW, you shoot a deer yet ? All I have been seeing is a bunch of 1 1/2 and 2 1/2 year olds. No shooters yet. I only have one week before all hell breaks lose up here in Michigan.

I think it's a little easier to get production out of low-rated defensive players and offensive lineman than it is skill players like WR, RB and QB. There's a reason that there are a ton of track players out there who aren't also football players.

Also, poor little deer.

Kirk Cousins and Keyshawn Martin were 2 stars as well

Not only were both three stars - but Martin was rated the 14th best player in Michigan.

Well, some of those defesive players especially in the secondary are speedsters. They just need the right coaching. You know this, heck you were right about the UM D this year. I didn't think they would do this well, look what the coaching did. They made one of the worst defenses in the country a lot better. Also, you don't have to be a track star to be good at the skill positions. Hart was a three star, considered a lower recruit. Look at MSU, our best RB ( Bell ) was a three star. They are lower rated recruits, maybe not two star but still considered low.

BTW I dont shot little deer. I practice quality deer management. My 8 point last year dressed out at 203 lbs with a live weight probably over 250 lbs.

I was pretty right about the defense. I thought we would end up somewhere in the top 30-50 range and last time I checked, it may be different since the Iowa game, we were actually a little above that. And IMO three star players are different than 2 star players in 1 way - generally 2 star players aren't fit to be in div1a athletics. Most kids who can't even get a three star rating - don't succeed in div1a - or are walk on somewhere that doesn't see the field. Obviously our coaching staff saw something to offer this kid one of 5 remaining scholarships.

That doesn't change the fact they were rated decently by, what most consider, the primary recruiting website. Our new recruit is universally a 2 star with almost no recruiting prestige at all.

80th in the country at his position...oh, the decency.

So if Johnson ends up getting a 3rd star on rivals after rushing for 3K+ yards then, and only then, he'll have a chance at being productive?

Maybe the scouting services whiffed on this kid. ANyway, if he was one the states best running backs playing at a big high school he st have something to offer. Also, watch his star rating go up now that UM offered him.
