Last year we'd stop opponents for the first drive or two. Then they'd make adjustments and we wouldn't and look out: defenseless defense.
What I saw today was our coaches adjust to what WMU did on their first two drives, find stuff that worked, and keep putting guys in position to make plays (today it was blitzes, mostly). That's encouraging.
I'm not saying we're gonna be a great defense, or really even good. But I'd settle for a defensive ranking in the 50's for this first year.
