New Playoff OT format

Play the full quarter and then go from the 50 after that like CFB does.

CFB doesn't go from the 50

Badly written statement, the inference was that CFB starts at a prescribed yard line.

CFB also only needs 1 foot in bounds. I knows its unrelated but differences are okay. All I know, its better than the previous way, 3 plays and a FG and the other team gets no chance on offense. I'm just not sure I want to watch a 4-5 hour game.

College OT isn't fair either. It is a huge advantage to be the 2nd team on offense...which is why everyone who wins the coin toss goes on defense first. Basically you get an extra down if you need it if you go on offense second.

I figured out a way to get rid of the advantage. The OT should be like college rules (each team gets one possession per OT). But you don't start from the 25 yard line. You play it like a 2 point conversion. Each team gets 1 play to score a TD from the 3 yard line (no kicking extra points and no need to switch ends). If you both score or fail to score, do it again.

Then you don't have to worry about guys being on the field too long like the current OT. It's one play for the offense and defense (unless there is a penalty).

I think there would be too much rotation between the Os and Ds running on/off for that to work. I'd rather they play an extra 10 or 15 minute OT. I recognize the conditioning issue, but to me that is still the better way to end it. If it comes down to one team being better conditioned than another, then so be it...that points to that team being better and therefore deserves to win more.

The game is supposed to be over already after 4 quarters. I'm not interested in an additonal fitness test. And no one wants to see kickers. I'm interested in coming up with a fair and realistic way to conduct OT. And there wouldn't be any confusion between switching to offense and defense. You don't need to have a play clock. I wasn't envisioning a situation where guys are sprinting onto the field before the other team snaps the ball.

You could play 6 OT's and you would have only run 6 plays (again depending on penalties). This would be less stress on the players and it is completely fair. No team gets an advantage. It's realistic...even though it won't happen.

Was just saying all the switching back and forth between O and D is not something I think teams, refs, nor the TV networks want to deal with. Too much of a delay between snaps and players constantly going back and forth. Sorry, I just don't see it but that is just my opinion and if they inacted something like that I'd be willing to see how it played out over the current system which feels flawed still to me.
