Its ESPN Insider. But they did mention Nick and though he doesn't say anything we don't already know I thought it worth posting anyway.

Nick Castellanos | 3B

When I was scouting the Futures Game in Kansas City this past July, I was expecting to see Profar and Myers put on a show. What I didn’t realize was Castellanos was going to be one of the top five position player prospects in the game.

Castellanos, 20, hit a combined .320/.365/.451 with 32 doubles and 10 homers between high Class A and Double-A last season, and could be ready for the major leagues as early as September. His best position is third base, but the Tigers are experimenting with him in left field with Miguel Cabrera already at third. Although the Tigers have taken the position that Castellanos is as close to untouchable as any prospect they have, they won't hesitate to move him for a significant piece this summer if they think it will make them World Series favorites. There is no doubt he’s going to hit and although he hasn’t hit for much power, he shows in batting practice that he has 20-home run potential.

Its a possibility... I'm just glad he didnt say something ridiculous for a closer or some weak hitting corner OF.

I think a Porcello & Castellanos package for a big time player is very possible this year.

I'd only be ok with that if the big time player was locked up for a few years and also wasn't very old. But Illitch is in win now mode so who knows really?

I agree, get a young talent that fits a big need. Only two I can think of, SS and possibly COF. But I don't see a SS that fits into the young and talented.

Apparently the Marlins have called asking about Castellanos. Castellanos, Porcello, Boesch, another prospect for Ginancarlo Stanton?

The lineup would be insane!

Stanton had a .969 OPS with a 5.4 WAR last season and he's only 23.

He definitely would make us better, lol. I can't see why the Marlins would do that but they do strange things.

Who else on the Marlins would be worth a package like that?

Jackson
Hunter
Cabby
Fielder
Stanton
Martinez
Perralta
Avila
Infante

Stanton had a 1.024 OPS against lefties last year, LOL. He was also a +.6 dWAR in RF last season. That lineup would be beyond insane.

No doubt and its been mentioned before but Stanton makes very little, not sure it makes sense to trade him just because Stanton is unhappy. Though if we did, we could probably get Rick and Nick back within 2 years.

Where'd you read this??? That would be AWESOME!!!

Who else do they have worth trading Nick besides Stanton?

I'd take Stanton for every prospect we have. Thanks DD for being a former Marlins GM.

See, now I'm getting too excited and if it doesn't happen I'll be bummed.

It is likely not going to happen.

But so was the Fielder signing last off season.

If it does happen, I am wondering how we resolve 2B and SS beyond this year (or next). Our cupboard will be pretty much bare, with not a lot of trade options.

with the lineup we would have, id be fine with cheap defense-first options for a couple years at least.

True but we were a good team when we were carrying Raburn and Inge with BB playing every day. Soi think we'd be okay.
