NFC North Grades thru Rd 3

Guys gotta remember that our defense should be a little better just having KVB, Fairley, Durant, and others healthy. Plus, we still have a long ways to the season. Once Avril gets his long term deal, Mayhew will have flexibility to get some secondary help.

I would of loved to get a CB in the 1st or 2nd round, but the Lions didnt have any DBs graded high enough at those spots. In a couple years when looking back it may be a decision between a great WR (broyles) or a scrub CB. I applaud Scwhartz and Mayhew, drafting talent is key, not drafting positions. Millen used to do this every year. Remember Boss Bailey, Kalimba, Dizon, Pinner, Scotty Anderson, Kevin Jones, Lehman, Cody, Bullocks, Calhoun, Stanton, Ikea llama franchise, Gerald Alexander, etc. Almost all of those were picks where we went need instead of just drafting talent.

Just looked at a couple of the tops teams in New England and Pittsburgh. The past 5-7 years neither team has drafted their obvious needs all the time. They simply followed their draft board and when their pick came up if their was a player that was as valuable as their pick was they nabbed him, otherwise they traded down.

When we become the steelers or patriots, we should do the same thing.

Yes. I was expecting someone else. I would have liked someone else but I'm okay with it.

I am with you....would have liked someone else. They drafted a 4th WR for next year and their #3 from 2013 on. I just think with as deep as this draft is at WR you could have filled that need in the 4th or 5th round. OH well...maybe he ends up being great and becomes the Lions #2. Time will tell.

love what the Rams did also....if those 2 Cbs they drafted can behave.

Outside of trading up to take Tavon Wilson, I thought Pats had a real good draft. That one I thought was iffy...

I think both have had fantastic drafts.
TB is my favorite. SD a close second.

steelers and pats both addressed needs so far???

Read zoom's post above mine. He said the pats and steelers dont draft for need. So i said, when we are one of them, we can draft bpa too. When you have as many holes as we do, you need to address those needs at some point. The steelers and pats havent had holes like we have in years. Theres a reason for that. They (at some point) filled those holes via the draft or FA. A 4th WR in the 2nd round is something that should be reserved for teams like the steelers and pats.

I'm sorry, and I know you're a bit angry at the pick but NE had a slew of holes on defense. That's why I assume they traded up, get those BPA on defense.

If they had holes to fill, and moved up for them, they picked for need. Zoom was referring to the last 5-7 years of their drafts. They always have some holes, but not like we do now. You cant pass up a good 2nd rd CB/S for a guy that might see 5 snaps per game.

I do like broyles, but now we have 3 slot receivers and 3 out of 4 of our top CBs are practice squad quality.

They saw the BPA, and traded up to get them. They had holes all through that defense, the 31st defense in the NFL.
