NFL already ruined this draft

Moving it into May has just totally left me feeling deflated and not even wanting to watch tonight. I'll just check who was drafted later on and move on with my life. Have a bunch of things I can knock off my Honey Do list instead.

Yep, I'd rather work on The List than watch the draft tonight. That's what happens when it gets moved out so far, not to mention spreading out over 3 days again. They keep tinkering with it and screwing it up in the process.

I plan on watching it still but I don't disagree with anything you said. I haven't looked at a mock draft in weeks. Just got sick of blind speculation and ignorant dribble.

agreed. i'd rather go back to the Sat/Sun format it used to be. those of us on the west coast are still working or stuck in traffic when the draft starts anyways.

Honestly the 2 weeks they moved the draft back had zero effect on me. I hadn't paid attention to anything NFL related until about a month ago. Needed a break from NFL talk, after the shit show ending of last season from the Lions.

I still miss those all day draft parties playing cards with my friends. ON SATURDAY. Thursday night drafts suck..

It just seems odd having it on a Thursday.. I will try and be home for the Lions pick but I could care less about the other NFL teams... Most of them do better then us anyway sadly.

This.

I used to host a draft party every year. Beer, burgers, steak, cigars, cards and back in the day a Tigers game....a Pistons playoff game.....and/or a Red Wings playoff game. It was a great Saturday. Wife would take the kids to her parents in Saginaw for the weekend. On Sunday, I would have to look and see who was drafted in the 3rd because after 6:00....I couldn't remember shit.

FUCK YOU GOODELL!!!!!

Now the talk is spreading it over 4 DAYS!!!!

Fucking Stupid......it should be one day......2 at the most.

this! Of course for me I doubt I would have any draft day parties anymore. We used to do that before we all got married and had kids. I still don't like the Thursday night start

I still wish they had 2 rounds on the 1st day

It's stretched out too much now

Yep. The old format was better for me. I can't stand this date and two nights being prime time. They can all eat a dick.

I'm so tired of overthinking when it comes to sports. Just stick to what was working. The format was fine.

There's really never any reason to watch the draft. I'm all for having an excuse to get together with friends and eat good food, but even prior to the format change I don't remember actually watching the draft. Let's be real, none of these kids will be playing this weekend. We really don't know anything about these kids until months later unless they get hurt. Actually watching the draft is like watching a Senate hearing. A bunch of people just talk bullshit for a few hours, make catastrophically dumb decisions, then you feel like an idiot for wasting the time when you could have been doing literally anything else.

That's really a sad way to look at the draft, bro...wtf? lol

Just for playing the Devil's Advocate here... the NFL didn't really want to move into May. They did so because Radio City Music Hall booked the Rockettes show during the normal April timeframe.

And then the Rockettes cancelled anyway.

So, the NFL was beaten out by dancing girls. Point is, the NFL didn't have the venue available for April, so they moved it to May.

I still suspect they are trying to spread it out a bit and make football a year round news item, but in this case, they weren't given a choice.

I think they are trying to get the draft out of NYC. Pretty soon it will just go to the highest bidder like anything else in that league. All you need is a closet that can hold like 500 people and a stage.

I have to be honest here too, and people can slam me for not being an NFL junkie, that's cool. The NFL draft is so incredibly boring if you aren't a die hard. After the Lions pick, I truly don't need to turn the TV back on unless there's a trade or it's the next Lions pick. When the draft gets into rounds 4-7, and the building is cleared of everyone except 10 fans and the janitors, it's just so boring. I don't care who Green Bay takes at 25, or SF takes at 28, none of that stuff matters to me.

They made the announcement that it would not likely be held in NYC next year after the Rockettes announced they would do their month long show in 2015 instead of 2014.

I think they just don't want to get beaten up by ladies again.

Really though, it seems like they will run into this same problem next year, so if you have to change venues, why not change cities too?

Not sure why you think you'll be slammed for this one.

The point of being a football fan is watching football. Free agency, the draft, the combine... that's all just the appetizer before the meal. Doesn't make you any less of a fan in my book to not like the draft and not care about who takes who with what pick.

Given there is a 50% bust rate among every pick... I am not even sure why I love the draft. Doesn't make any sense to me. Doesn't make any sense that I love lobster either. I just do.

Different strokes for different folks I guess.

i have seen a lot on ESPN and i am willing to bet they move it back to april.
