NFL trying to make a RB leading with helmet a penalty

Sure, im not going to lose any sleep over it, but its a dumb rule IMO. And the tweets i have seen from NFL players prove it. Especially the RBs....

You mean the RBs with damaged brains from leading with their heads? Good place to get wisdom.

The NFL is doing the right thing here. And they are helping cover their asses for future lawsuits.

lmfao. No, current NFL RBs playing the game now. And not all injuries occur when a player leads with his head....try again.

Its a joke of a rule (quoting Marshall Faulk).

You did nail it on the head though. The NFL is trying to cover their asses....fn priceless..lol

IMO its not going to change the game. I'm not going to be like "fk, if he could only have lead with the head on that one...".

Its a natural reaction to lower your head when playing football and sticking it under someones chin or chest. This is going to be next to impossible for some players to adapt to.

Bullshit. If you see Leshoure run a guy over by lowering his head and he gets in the endzone, only to get flagged on the play and lose 15 from the spot of the foul and maybe losing the game by 6 points, you'll be crying on here like the rest of us.

No it isn't. It's a natural reaction to lower your shoulder.

Its not as big as you think it is. More RB use their shoulder instead of their helmet to hit.

And I'd actually be yelling at Leshoure for not adapting to the freakin' rules.

Thats why majority of the players hate the new rule. Got it.

This has passed apparently 31-1

I don't see this being something you can just suddenly teach runners not to do, this is stupid

You'll start to see guys just run out of bounds more now instead of lowering the boom to pick up that extra yards or two

What a bunch of bullshxt

Of course. I'm sure the QB would want the tuck rule. It doesn't mean anything.

Oh, ok......its going to mean something when flags are being thrown for bullshit and flags are left in the refs pockets when it should nbe thrown. I see a bunch of confused zebras on this new bs rule. Gonna be a shitshow...lol

It's the way it goes. Only fair to the defenses since they can't hit now. Personally I like old football, anything goes. Its just not going to make me not have fun. It's still football.

MOre of a reason to keep reggie on the field and leshoure off the field. You don't see reggie putting his head down ever....he will side step or make a lateral move 100% of the time before he leads with the crown of his helmet. We should benefit from the rule more than get hurt by it. Peterson gets a flag for running over our secondary....sounds good to me.

The problem is making a 55-65 year old determine if some natural movement at full speed was intentional and therefore a penalty. Happens all the time with db hits (totally unintentional helmet to helmet, receiver lowers his head upon catching the ball) or on blow to the qb's head (tries to block the pass, follow through hits his helmet). I'm convinced it's not the application of the rule it's the enforcement. (And then for good measure the NFL fines fucking everything).

If it's okay for Jim Brown it's okay with me:

“I didn't use my head,” Brown said at the NFL meetings in Phoenix. “I used my forearm. The palm of my hand. And my shoulder. And my shoulder pads. I wasn't putting my head into too much of anything. I don’t think that’s a good idea.”

“At least it doesn't sound like a good idea to me if I’m not guaranteed that my head is going to be strong enough to hurt somebody else and not hurt myself,” Brown added.
