NFL trying to make a RB leading with helmet a penalty

If it's okay for Jim Brown it's okay with me:

?I didn't use my head,? Brown said at the NFL meetings in Phoenix. ?I used my forearm. The palm of my hand. And my shoulder. And my shoulder pads. I wasn't putting my head into too much of anything. I don?t think that?s a good idea.?

?At least it doesn't sound like a good idea to me if I?m not guaranteed that my head is going to be strong enough to hurt somebody else and not hurt myself,? Brown added.

lol. Jim Brown was a monster during his playing days. Go look at video of some of his games. He was much bigger than his opponents. Defenders slid off of him while he tossed guys around with his arms. He never got low because he was so big and it wasnt his style.

Jim Brown is a HOF RB,but lets be honest, im more concerned with the current players who have to adapt to this new rule. Its easy for Brown to give the thumbs up on this rule because he never lowered his head. Good for him...lol.

Its going to be a very confusing rule. Refs, coaches and players will be going apeshit at times. Just watch....

MOre of a reason to keep reggie on the field and leshoure off the field. You don't see reggie putting his head down ever....he will side step or make a lateral move 100% of the time before he leads with the crown of his helmet. We should benefit from the rule more than get hurt by it. Peterson gets a flag for running over our secondary....sounds good to me.

Going to be interesting how the superstars get treated. Peterson is probably the worst of the bunch. He lowers the boom ALL the time. I dont see him changing up his style that much.

You make it sound like everyone uses there head, outside the box. Very few do, they're figure it out. So there are a few penalties, its still the NFL.

Does this apply to lead blockers or is this just the ball carrier?

Not sure but I would assume its the same for WR and TE. Granted WR usually run out of bounds but those TE run right at ya..

It is a definite penalty. It will incur a fine along the lines of hitting defenseless receiver.

I read that there won't be a fine, just a penalty. Difference with defense because they can launch themselves. You don't see offensive players launch themselves in the air.

In the press conference announcing the rule change, they said it could be a fine. And they said the fine schedule would be inline with other personal foul plays. Multiple offenders would see their fines increase per the fine schedule.

A lot of players do. I have no problem with player safety, but this rule is going to take time to adjust to on both sides of the ball.

trent Richardson just turned into about a 5th round value lol. dudes gonna get like 5 penalties a game.

So it takes time. Doesn't mean its a bad rule.

It is a bad rule. MAJORITY of NFL players despise the rule.

Just because YOU dont think its a bad rule, doesnt mean it isnt. Ill take the words of a player over anyone else.

Majority? Do the CB and S think its bad? Or the LB? They had to change now the RB's do. Fair is fair.
