No National Champion This Year

So they are telling us the "National Champion" is a team who split two match ups with LSU, didn't win their division, didn't even play in their conference championship, and has one less win than LSU? Fuck off BCS. Fuck right off. No national champion this year.

Really glad I did not watch one second of last night's meaningless game.

Meh, I know it is unpopular but I thought Alabama and LSU were the two best teams this year. If you want either some version of the BCS or a play off then that is what you want for a title game. Alabama won the title game and thus they get to be champions. To me this is no worse then Wisconsin being B10 champs over MSU despite losing to MSU in the regular season.

i agree with OP. The travesty is that the Alabama kicker missed all of those kicks in the first game. If bama wins that one, maybe we all would've been able to see a better championship game.

There ain't no national champeen.

Ain't never been, and jus' as likely ain't never will be none, neither.

I also did not watch a single second of the game. I only learned who won when I looked at espn.com this morning.

I watched some of it on my flight and then the end at the hotel bar, having a late dinner ...next to a bandwagon 'Bama fan and lifelong Steelers fan ...... We didn't have much to talk about.

Barely watched any of it myself, watched some of the UConn-WVA game, wrestling and Raiders of the Lost Ark, really didn't have much of an interest in it anyway unless I had money riding on it

Now that the SEC has finally decided on who they want representing their conference, when does Alabama play Okie St???

Seriously, it wasn't right when OK played in the title game and it isn't right that Bama played either. Win your conference championship game and then you can play for the NC, which should be a playoff type setup between Pac, B1G, SEC and...I guess the B12 since the ACC is crap and BigEasy shouldn't count. This would work best if B12 would be absorbed by B1G and Pac while BigEasy and ACC merge as well. Maybe one day there will be college playoffs, or at least something better than the Bull Crap System.

The new Big Ten/Pac 12 agreement could be a 1st step towards this. National Championship game would be Rosebowl Champ vs Sugar Bowl Champ with Big Ten and Pac 12 champs meeting in the Rosebowl and the SEC champ meeting either the Big 12, ACC, or Big East champ in the Sugar Bowl. ...don't know how that last bit will play out yet.

Alabama had their chance at home against LSU, they lost. Didn't deserve the rematch, whether or not they were the best team in the nation. System is a joke.

Ok State had their chance at an un ranked Iowa State team, they blew it and lost handily to an unranked team. Alabama had a fluky loss in OT to the top team in the Country, they proved last night that they were the best team in the Country with maybe the best defense of all time.

Best part of the game was Nick Saban's reaction to his teams 1st penalty with about 2 minutes left. They were dusting off the Gatorade and the game was done and he just goes ballistic when his team gets a 5 yard off sides. That guy is something else. His players were afraid to douse him this year and basically asked his permission after the game and he said OK. Saban is so mean he made more than one NFL player cry when he was at Miami.

Ok State lost handily? They lost in double OT 37-31. A fluke loss after a major University tragedy.

They have a great defense. But pump the brakes on the best defense of all time. They played an LSU offense that is hilariously inept. At the end of the day, the system is junk, and it needs to be fixed soon. The BCS is under more heat than ever.

Game was ugly last night. Jordan Jefferson seemed scared and afraid to make a mistake. I would love to see Okie st play Ala but I think Bama would win. And if the had put Okie st in the BCS title game we would have drawn bama in the Sugar Bowl and as much as I love U of M they would have rolled us I think.

people need to get off the inept offenses when talking about alabama and lsu. LSU averaged nearly 40 a game in SEC play if you take out the Bama game. Alabama's offense was also pretty damn strong outside of the two games vs LSU.

Most of the other teams in the SEC this year had pretty shitty defenses.

6 out of the top 23 scoring defenses in the nation were in the SEC. 5 for the big 10.

in defensive ypg the sec has 4 in the top 5 and 5 in the top 8.

All those are obviously true; however, I keep going back to 2011 being just a very lackluster year for CFB. As an example, 3 SEC teams ranked in top 3 spots at one point??? How pathetic is THAT?Hopefully 2012 will be back to normal. B1G needed to prove people wrong in the bowl games, but it seems like they only emphasized the point.

Hoke will get that turned around very soon though. B1G might still be a joke, but it will just mean UM breezes to undefeated seasons and then crush the SEC in the NC game. Sure would be beautiful to see!

7.8 ppg and 184 ypg allowed for Alabama. Yeah, there is no messing with that, they were sick! LSU had a very good offense and played a lot of great defenses, Alabama's defense was just crazy yesterday. They were starting literally an entire defense that will play in the NFL, heck, they have reserves who will play in the NFL. LSU's offense is stacked, they have studs all over the field, but they were no match for Bama's D. It was the 1st shutout in Title game history, and LSU was lucky to make it past the 50 yard line the one single time they did, and that one time, they didn't finish past the 50 though.
