No National Champion This Year

Okie State had its chance at an un-ranked Iowa State team, the day a couple members of their AD coaching staff died in a plane crash yet almost pulled off an overtime win, losing in Ames 37-31. Alabama had a loss in OT to the top team in the country in one of the most overhyped, oversold, underimpressive snoozefests of the season. They proved last night that they were good enough to beat LSU, rather than lose to them, during a bizarre offensive gameplan rolled out by LSU.

Best part of the game was Nick Saban's reaction to his teams 1st penalty with about 2 minutes left. They were dusting off the Gatorade and the game was done and he just goes ballistic when his team gets a 5 yard off sides. That guy is something else. His players were afraid to douse him this year and basically asked his permission after the game and he said OK. Saban is so mean he made more than one NFL player cry when he was at Miami.

Ok State lost handily? They lost in double OT 37-31. A fluke loss after a major University tragedy.

To a shitty school.

You have to compare the losses, OSU's was WAY WAY WAY worse. Alabama proved theyre the best team in the country. The best team in the country throughout the entire season only crossed the 50 yard line one time on them....probably the best defensive performance of all time.

We let teams cross the 50 in 2 plays. You guys can call it boring all you want...ill just call it a team that actually has a defense.

You can justify anything when it comes to "my dad can beat your dad" reasoning.

We all saw undefeated Oklahoma teams get curb stomped the past decade. The reason so many people wanted to see Okie State (or another team) is because it would appear as if Okie State would have provided a more ENTERTAINING football match-up than a re-run of the season's worst and least entertaining game.

I'm not speaking for hardcore football fans who like defensive battles like a pure baseball fan loves a pitching duel, I'm speaking for the rest of the sports fans out there who were turned off in many ways by the re-match and ultimately the product put out last night.

I was turned off by that rematch for many reasons. None of them being because it would be a defensive game. I love defense. I was turned off because as Michigan fans all of us can remember being told you have to win your conference, you had your chance, every game counts, yada, yada, yada, all bullshit. Bama didn't even win their division and even THEIR COACH said that you have to win your conference to be in the national championship. So by Saban's definition, his team is not a national champion. It's just another year of frustration for college football fans and the frustration is really starting to overflow now. The BCS has been around for 14 years and it has never improved. Only got exponentially worse every year.

They have a great defense. But pump the brakes on the best defense of all time. They played an LSU offense that is hilariously inept. At the end of the day, the system is junk, and it needs to be fixed soon. The BCS is under more heat than ever.

people need to get off the inept offenses when talking about alabama and lsu. LSU averaged nearly 40 a game in SEC play if you take out the Bama game. Alabama's offense was also pretty damn strong outside of the two games vs LSU.

SEC had 5 good teams this year...get off the SEC jock.

top sec 5 vs top B1G 5 based on final conference standings and bowl performance

Wisconsin - Alabama
MSU - LSU
Michigan - South Carolina
Penn State - Georgia
Nebraska - Arkansas

how many wins do you see here?

As long as the overtime tie breaker is in place for all the games, I see 5 wins.

This what I find so infuriating about the SEC fanbase and others who engage in the 'conference debate.'

Now, granted, people in the SEC footprint don't really have much else to brag about, so you can give them that. But ...it's about the teams and match-ups and you can't ASSERT that the Cocks would have lost to Sparty b/c Sparty barely beat Georgia just as you can't ASSERT Wisconsin would have necessarily beaten VaTech or Georgia or whomever.

A few years back, PSU beat Tenn, Wisky beat Arkansas and Michigan beat Florida.

"well, that's on-a-counta how huard it is to play a whole season in the Ess-eeeeeeee-seeeee."

I seriously hate the south. Except for the hot chicks. Who are so easy to get because they are surrounded by total morons. Just wanted to share my feelings. I'm trying to open up as a person.

No doubt! I'm not about to get beat with a bowling ball.

AL-a-BAM-a MAAAAAN!!!!

We'll never know Monster. I still think Oregon is the 2nd best team in the country. Wisconsin matches up MUCH better with Alabama.

I don't know.

5 games.

As long as the tie breaker is in place, there will be a winner in every game.

That's 5 wins.
