His awful, un-democratic*, and incompetent city manager legislation has resulted in an entire generation of poor kids in Flint suffering from lead poisoning, among other unsavory results around the state.

I mean, that has to put this doofus up there among the ranks of "Worst Governors in Michigan History" right? I mean, costing your state some jobs, costing taxpayers a few dollars each through corruption or mismanagement is bad, sure. but it's nothing like knowingly or at least recklessly physically harming your citizens.

can we revoke his alumni status? what an embarrassment.

*and more or less racist since it's been overwhelmingly targeted at maj. black populated areas

You have a bigger embarrassment in your alumni base to worry about first who is running for POTUS

Revoke Carson's also.. That guy is a real ding bat..
Good thing we all know he is a bigger douche bag then Synder But it is really close.... I doubt University of Michigan would ever have Ben Carson back anytime soon.. What a travesty going on in Flint..

I'm typically a Snyder defender. I like the dude--and for the most part I can get behind the agenda he sets. Sure, he throws an occasional bone to our state legislature that is overwhelmingly full of ding bats, but I give him the benefit of the doubt on that (I mean, that's what you have to do to govern as an R in this state right?).

This is bad though. And instead of stepping up initially he tried to dodge the issue. It's disappointing.

To be fair, their Democrat mayor (a Rhodes Scholar actually--though I know people who work for him that think he's an idiot) fully embraced the new water system, was part of the ribbon-cutting ceremony, etc. Obviously he's run as far away from that position as he can now, but doesn't come out completely blame-free as far I'm concerned.

I'm guessing this was supposed to be all fun and games Republitard politics... you know "Hey, we didn't know people could actually get hurt when we play games with public services." And normally the harm is abstract or removed enough that no one has to confront it mentally like this. He and his administration are still in denial right now. some (the real sociopaths) may address it by doubling down on their "free market good; government bad" ideology; others will soften their thinking.

Sounds like he's more of a Clintonian Democrat... agrees with the Republitards on everything but abortion. Screw them too.

I had been reading about this generally... the news seems to creep out, although you can tell the press in Michigan has tread carefully, as they seem to be on Snyder's side as well.

then I read this article in a liberal rag, detailing 5 different crappy results of Snyder's emergency manager law. It's pretty telling almost all of them hit majority black communities. the charter school thing in Muskegon Heights is pretty telling... I'd like to see the jackwads pushing Charter schools as the answer try to pull that in Bloomfield Hills or Birmingham. Not a chance in hell they'd want their own kids taught by non-union, charter school teachers...

now the Feds are investigating.

this could (should) be the end for Snyder.

also should be the end for that awful, anti-democracy, emergency manager law.

It's nice that whenever we get to thinking democracy is bad, voters are too dumb, and a really really smart tyrant would govern better, we get a helpful reminder like this to stay the course.

Worse than Kinsley S. Bingham?

Can we take credit for the neurosurgeon stuff and ignore the rest? Apparently, he's an excellent surgeon.

Why didn't his campaign people ever run with blurbs about taking a scalpel to the budget? Or did they? I guess I probably would have missed it if they did.

we're the only state that essentially throws out the local elected officials if the governor sees fit. we essentially pause democracy once the governor installs whoever he sees fit as dictator

Hopefully this will be the end of the corrupt Snyder. But alas it seems like every outlet in the state is under Snyder's dictatorial embrace. Bad water for citizens is just flat out indefensible.

Of course Snyder didn't intentionally use chemicals knowing they would corrode the pipes and have lead leak into the water. The problem is the emergency manager usage that essentially takes the decision making power away from those elected officials. When you overtake a city you live with the consequences of those actions, the careless decision to save money by using river water vs water from the great lakes was reckless. The spin afterwards telling everyone to relax and that the water was safe is indefensible, he went on tv and said that the lead could be coming from another source within the home. I wouldn't consider the city of flint even inhabitable at this point

it was so bad, I read that GM had to consider buying water from an alternative source because the water was corroding their factory machinery... meanwhile Snyder is on the air saying it's safe to DRINK(?)

I know he's otherwise supposed to be a moderate, nice guy, but this is so beyond the pale, it's difficult to defend him. even if he only passed one REALLY bad measure during his tenure, well, it was a real disaster. far outweighs anything positive he accomplished.

I thought he was a decent republican, I voted for him in 2010. If you're a republican governor and you accept federal obamacare money that's a litmus test that you're not crazy (unlike jindal and others).

The president is going to be in detroit 1/20 to visit the auto show and tour parts of Detroit. He should make a stop in Flint to declare it a disaster area, at least then they could get bottled water shipped in. I'm sure your average Flint resident has a little problem paying $300 a month for bottled water

I wouldn't consider the city of Flint inhabitable even if it had good water!

It was sad the Dems couldn't run anyone with a pulse back in 2014. Schaurer was about as lifeless a candidate as you can find.

I had just moved in 2010 but i would have likely voted for snyder over bernero as well.
