Now what?

Wait for Cespedes to become a free agent, sign him, then make a trade for Chase Headley/Martin Prado/Daniel Murphy. Possibly sign Beltran and Edwin Jackson

I'd rather the Tigers take a chance on Carlos Beltran than Manny Ramirez.

Don't really see either happening though.

this. beltran is better offensively at this point and has always been better defensively. i would actually be happy if we picked him up later this offseason as long as it didnt cost too much.

I thought the Giants were bringing him back. No?

He had a hell of a year this past season. I'll pay 7-8 million for him. Not much more. Not sure how much he'd want or get anywhere else.

No, the Giants haven't brought him back, at least not yet.

There aren't really many rumors around about him, other than that no teams have really shown interest in him yet.

That's really surprising. I thought I heard a few months ago that San Fran was almost certainly bringing him back, and hadn't thought much of it since then because nobody was mentioning his name during the winter meetings either. Beltran would be an excellent addition for us.

I'd be fine with us adding Saunders as our 5th starter if/when we don't trade away the farm for Gio.

with our rotation the way it is, he'd be a decent 5th starter. certainly better than penny was.

Beltran was awful last year for the Giants. I'd be surprised if they bring him back...

Beltran with SF

.323 BAVG .369 OBP .551 SLG .920 OPS

That is awful. I also would be surprised that they would want him back.

Yeah, he's horrible. Lol.

Lol my bad. I didn't bother to look up the numbers and was remembering what people were saying about him around here (live in the Bay Area). I think he was injured not long after the trade and didn't play for a few weeks, that must be what people were complaining about now that I think about it.

He's a DL risk, Reyes is a DL risk, Ramirez has an attitude problem. Is there anyone you don't like?

One thing ive learned from this board, is that if we ever make a move, there is something wrong with it, according to some "expert" here. When we resign verlander somebody will say "too much money" lol.
