*Official UM Hoops Thread*

Even though they are similar heights, they play completely different.

Thomas is substantially better around the rim. Has some of the best body control you'd see from someone his size.

Keene launches deep and often. Of course I'd take the guy on this team. I just think he'd have to change way too much to his liking.

I like plays that equal three points.

Ha, I hear you, it's just my assumption that for as much freedom as Beilein does give guys on offense, he has his limits. And maybe he'd be able to fit in, maybe not. Like I said, that'd be an interesting experiment.

That could be the case.

Keene does launch deep and often, but he shot 52.2% from two this past season. Pretty solid.

Either way, I think we need a grad transfer at PG. I hope JB is exploring options. From everything I have read, Brooks and Poole won't be ready to run point their freshman year.

X will just have to get through the growing pains and use the non-conference crap games as a way to get adjusted. He can handle it I think, wasn't a big-time recruit for nothing.

I agree, but we need a back up. X can't play 40 mins a night.

If we don't bring anyone else in, then our bench rotation is going to be:

PG - Brooks or Poole
SG - Poole
SF - Robinson
PF - Livers
C - Teske/Davis

Sadly in 2017, freshman have to become adjusted in a hurry. One of those guys will have to live up to their potential.

Well Brooks is a 3-star which basically equals a development project. Poole could be ready, but he's not a true PG. Just makes me a bit nervous.

I think this will be one of their more athletic teams in forever with Wilson and Matthews, and they could actually be able to rebound finally.

Whether or not the whole chemistry will work and the rest will step up, who knows. There's no excuse for them to not make another nice run next season.

I hope Davis brings some toughness and rebounding as well. I hope I'm wrong, but Teske looked like he'll take a couple years before he's really ready.

At the very least, this run gave us a good amount of optimism for next season.

If they continued on the same path, flamed out early in the BTT and lost in the first round of the NCAAs, I think we'd all be completely questioning the program direction.

I'm definitely optimistic about next season. DJ, Moe, Rahk, Matthews, and X is a great starting 5. I'm excited about Livers, practice reports on Davis have been encouraging, and we all know what Duncan brings. I'm going in thinking we can compete for the Big 10 title. If the bench players develop, a deep tourney run should be our expectation.

rebound? Nope, you have to get back and play D. It's not even worth it to rebound...

argh!

I'm not sure what Ford is basing that on. The dude hasn't said a word yet. He's not ready.

If he goes, he's not going to get drafted in the first round.

I know. I've looked at every reputable NBA Draft site and not one has DJ listed as a first round pick. Draft Express doesn't even have him as a second rounder.

"Asked about next year's team, which loses Derrick Walton Jr. and Zak Irvin, Wilson said: "I think we're going to be a great team. We have a lot of freshmen coming in, the pieces we have now, plus Charles (Matthews). We'll be as dangerous as this year."

Of his own potential in 2017-18, Wilson said: "I mean, it's another year under my belt. So I don't see why not. I definitely think I can improve in a lot of areas."

He ain't leaving.

It may take another half of a season to start showing up. This team will need to find "the guy" over the course of the 1st half just like this season and seasons past.
