I agree. There will be a lot of schools dropping some of their sports programs.
I wonder if we'll see some FBS teams end up moving back down to FCS? There's a good amount that have no business being at the FBS level.

well, almost.

Group of 5 conferences asking NCAA to "relax" requirements

https://www.espn.com/college-footba...ac-c-usa-ask-ncaa-relax-division-requirements

These conferences should be in a separate division anyway.

Exactly. There's no point in them being at their current level. Broad sweeping realignment needs to happen.

I don't know which league in soccer it is, because I don't follow soccer, but I like how they bump teams down a level if they perform poorly.

I am starting to get the feeling that there won't be a college football season next year. It is all but a foregone conclusion that IF there are to be any sports between now and the fall they would all be played without fans. I can't see any university having football players on campus if they don't allow regular students on campus.

Even if they do try and have a season it will be canceled as soon as one player has a confirmed coronavirus case.

Cole Bajema entered the transfer portal.

We're super thin at the 2 now.

Anyone out there still uncommitted or transferring?

No word on us pursuing anyone, but there are a few guys out there who would be fits at the 2.

Chaundee Brown - WF - 12.1 PPG, 6.5 RPG, 1.4 APG, 50.6% FG, 32.2% 3FG
He was the 6th ranked SG in the 2017 class.

Jamal Bieniemy - OU - 5.2 PPG, 4.0 RPG, 2.8 APG, 44.6% FG, 25.3% 3FG
Really good defender. Shot 40.3% from 3 his freshman year, but slumped last year in his sophomore outing. Shot 80% from the FT line, so he's got a good stroke. Maybe just had a bad year.

Elijah Weaver - USC - 6.6 PPG, 2.4 RPG, 1.8 APG, 47.5% FG, 32.9% 3FG
#5 Combo Guard in the 2018 class. Got about 20 MPG last year. Could be worth the roll of the dice. 6'6" combo guards are nice to have.

No idea if any of these guys would be interested. With the pandemic, I won't be surprised to see a lot of the transfers go as close to home as possible.

We really need Livers to come back now. I hope Smith can hold up at point guard.

We have zeb jackson and eli brooks too. We'll be fine at that spot.

Are you sure you want to start a true freshmen at point guard espically for a whole season. Hopefully they work him in.Brooks and smith should be ok but we shall see how productive it can be. Jackson is way better then both probably so there will be growing pains. Simpson played 38 games as a freshman but never started. He took over after about 12 games his sophomore season and started 29 of 41 games. Hopefully Zeb is better !

No one said they wanted Zeb to start. We have 3 options.

Zeb isn't a little guy. He's 6'2, athletic, quick, and really high iq. My guess is his talent will show up early and he'll be starting before conference play opens.

Edit - but i think brooks would do a great job as a starter. Not sure about Smith, but his experience helps the depth at the very least.

From UMHoops:

The most pertinent recruiting news over the last 72 hours was Jalen Coleman-Lands announcing Michigan as a finalist.

Coleman-Lands has kept his transfer recruitment quiet but he’s the only active transfer who has publicly listed Michigan. With two roster spots to fill, the Wolverines’ making the cut is notable.

Sorting through the Coleman-Lands’ potential impact isn’t necessarily straightforward. His shooting profile is complicated — he shot 32% from 3-point range but took a lot of contested shots and was the only shooter in DePaul’s offense — and he’s a one-dimensional player. He fits the roster well given his size (6-foot-4) and position. He’d be arguably the only true shooting guard on the roster but wouldn’t add a significant amount of playmaking, ball handling, or defense to the mix.

At the end of the day, there’s little downside to gambling on Coleman-Lands. He’s an experienced high-major player who was a former top-40 recruit. He’s not going to be an all-conference performer but he’s capable of playing starters minutes on a roster that has holes. Michigan has two scholarships to give and Coleman-Lands wouldn’t impact roster considerations in future classes or even prevent Michigan from adding another transfer.

I wouldn’t pencil in Coleman-Lands as an immediate starter but he would be a safe bet to provide rotational minutes. The race for the starting spot next to Eli Brooks is complicated by the fact that Brooks is better off the ball than as a primary ballhandler.
