I'm more upset that they gave him forward progress. He crossed the first down mark, then pulled the ball back on his own. But they gave him the forward progress because the refs don't know any better.

Then the refs must do so only for QBs only, b/c I watched Barry Sanders forward progress being lost plenty of times, but perhaps that was b/c the refs would have taken far too long after his rushing plays to calculate forward+/-lateral-reverse=negative or positive yards gained..lol.

i've never seen refs do differently on that. it is like unwritten acceptance that doing that is ok.

I hate that rule. Every team should get a 7 foot tall dude just for goaline situations like that. Simply reach a ball over a line for 1/2 second and get a 1st down or TD. The other one I dislike is the play where Stafford got his rushing TD. Guy is being tackled or flying out of bounds, and the ball touches the pylon, yet its a TD. Despite never completely breaking the plane of the goaline.

The "plane of the goaline" starts at the very beginning of the paint. The pylon is the same width as the goaline ERGO ball touching the pylon with the ball carrier in bounds is a TD.

Back to the original post. I agree getting Megatron signed long term is priority number 1.

I really want to see Leshoure's status because simply put we need a real option at RB. Obviously our D and line needs work but we don't even have enough of a consistent run game to keep defenses honest. Admittedly this has just as much to do with the OL as it does the RB but a powerful downhill runner would do wonders for this team.
