Orange Bowl bound?

Looks fairly likely, the Orange Bowl will take the ACC Champ or runner up not in the playoffs(Georgia Tech) and the highest ranked no conference champ between the SEC and the B1G.

So win or lose, G Tech is in the Orange Bowl. Only team that could edge us for it would be for Wisky to beat OSu and OSU to stay ahead of us. Then we might get the Cotton or Fiesta. OSU wins and we are in the Orange Bowl. OSU loses and drops below us and we are in the Orange Bowl.

Hearing this is pretty much a done deal. Will be a great bowl and opponent for us. Do not underestimate G Tech, they just trounced Georgia. Would be even sweeter if they beat FSU next week, would mean two top 8 teams in the premier non playoff bowl game.

They didn't trounce Georgia, they beat them in overtime. MSU should beat them without a problem, especially with 3 weeks to prepare for the option.

Why would anyone drop OSU below us when they would have the same number of losses, better conference record, and beat us by double digits on our home field? The only way that happens is if they look like complete garbage against Wisconsin and it's attributed to the Barrett injury.

Plus, Georgia has been the most overrated SEC team for the last 2 or 3 years.

I'm hearing a lot about the peach bowl for us against a SEC team. the Orange has the ACC tie in and the other spot will go to the highest ranked SEC or Big ten team available, if Wisconsin wins I think they may jump us and if OSU loses they won't fall below us. I think we have a chance at this if OSU wins and Bama beats Mizzou.

We will pass them if they lose because of the way we finished the season. Our two losses will be better than their two losses, we'll have finished the season blowing 3 bad teams out, they'll have finished the season struggling against 3 bad teams and losing to Wisky. Plus they are without their QB and best player and the committee said that will be figured into their rankings. We have a shot to be #7 this Tuesday night to their #5 or #6.

I wanted to play either Mississippi State in the Peach or play whoever in the Orange. Arizona in the Fiesta was also a possibility. Looks like we are locked into the Orange Bowl unless Alabama gets blown out by Missouri in the SEC Title game.

Anyway you slice it this was a pretty good rebuilding year for our program.

I don't call this a rebuilding year, this was a season when we were close to some really big goals but didn't get it done in those big games. this is the kind of season that the heavyweights have when they don't win their conferences, etc. this is almost like those Lloyd Carr teams of the 90's that would lose to OSU but win all of the other games they should win. this is what good programs do

This team wan ranked in the Top 10 pre-season. That's not considered a rebuilding year.

I will stop short of saying that we don't rebuild, we reload, but hopefully we can get to that point in the near future.

I can't think of a scenario that MSU goes to the Orange bowl. I think it is a lock that they go to the Peach Bowl.

On second thought...if OSU would somehow get into the 4 team playoff I guess that would open the door for MSU....I just don't think OSU has any shot to get into the top 4

Definitely a rebuilding year for the D although we still finished 7th in the nation despite two bad games.

I expect 10+ wins in 2015 and if the team continues to grow to be in the playoff discussion again.

I see MSU as a co-favorite for the Big 10 title again next year. Probably 1b right behind OSU.

way too early to tell, it depends on who the QB is for MSU and OSU among other things. I think that if Cook, Waynes, and Calhoun come back the over under for wins should be 10.5, it would be 8 if they all go.

True. OSU's over under will be 10.5 regardless of who leaves or comes back.

Barret breaking his ankle may have been the best thing to happen for Braxton Miller in the last 6 months.

Barrett is supposed to be back in time for Spring practice...although not at 100%. Come next fall my guess is he will be the starter.

that's the point. if not for the injury, there's no question it's TJ's job to lose - why waste a year of TJ's eligibility not to mention all the experience he's gained this season when Miller has just one year left? Obviously, Meyer is not the kind of guy to just give the job to Miller as a reward for his loyalty. But even if Miller isn't the favorite to win the job, at least his chances are significantly improved with the injury to Barret.

Lots of question marks ahead for Buckeyes. Shoulder injury (Miller) is the worst possible for a QB. We won't know for a long time how he responds. In time, JT should fully recover from his ankle injury but it will take time and he also has a bum knee. Meanwhile we have a kid named Gibson heading north from the Sunshine state. And, of course, another kid named Jones. Guess we'll know what he can do by midnight Saturday.

well, based on this quote from Jones...I think we know he isn't going to be a Rhodes Scholar!
