This is good news. Didnt want to see this guy railroaded any further.

Edit: I was actually hoping he got picked up by them or the Steelers.

Tebow thinks he already knows God ....well, he has yet to meet Belichick - the only coach in the league who would straight up cut Timmay for refusing to play TE ...LB or wherever Bill tells him to play.

And in NE it's "The Patriots Way" ....not the Tebow Way. Elway sent his ass packing in Denver for his self-promotion, how CLASSIC Patriots to sign a gimmick like Tim.

I love it!!

Up NY's ass and ESPNSucks has content for the rest of the summer and Skip Bayless just blew a load on Steven A's face

That's pretty much His first request, so Tim has that going for him.

So did Reggie White, Deion Sanders, Brian Dawkins and over half the league, at least ....yet they had to play football to make a roster, let alone the news and didn't have a little brother in a gay scarf calling the shots.

Vic, stop. Tebow was doing nothing different than when he was in college. Elway is a piece of shit narcissist that couldn't handle that no one wanted to talk about Elway anymore. That dude is so into himself, he proposed marriage into the mirror. Tebow did what he was asked to in Denver. He won. Plain and simple. Isn't that what your supposed to do in the NFL? I would love to have him on the Steelers. Knowing that Charlie Batch had been the back up for the last 25 years, makes one want to jump off a cliff. This guy is better than 75% of Qb's in the league. He deserves a shot. Learning from Brady is blessing(no pun intended). He will learn from one of the greats, if that is the position he is able to compete for.

Dude, Tebow showed in NY he can't play in the NFL and I can bear firsthand witness to many of the Tebow Miracle wins here in Denver - it was freaking awesome!

But every Broncos fan, fully backing the QB and enjoying every minute of the on field action would admit that the run under Tebow was so unlikely and completely remarkable that it wasn't likely to be repeated.

And then you can sign Peyton Manning and send the Circus to NYC ...? Praise be to Jesus!!

You don't have to like Elway and I wouldn't argue he's arrogant, but so are 99% of Executives like that -- my comparison was to Belichick and admitted Elway got the Tebow shit out of town ...The Hoodie is just as smug and arrogant as Johnny Ballgame and has shown "His" word is law.

Go back to my post and you'll see we agree ...I have no issue with Tebow, it's his "handlers" and crap and BS that follows him and in my opinion having seen it, it's a crock of duke. From UF to Denver there was an obsessive campaign waged by everybody at ESPN, lead by Skip Bayless, and throngs of local sportsradio callers who had excuses for EVERY aspect of Tebow's game.

Tebowmania is indeed a phenomenon, but it's also bizarre. And how do you mean "railroaded?"

I thought you said Tebow's "self-promotion," was what got Elway to get rid of him.

My mistake for not elaborating on the conflict between Tebow's Entourage's self-promotion and Elway's ego ...there are many layers to the TebowCrap; Josh McDaniels reunion with Belichick being one of the thicker...

People make the assertion that "Elway couldn't stand Tebow in the limelight" but then can't explain how Elway has successfully landed Manning, Welker and drafted the likes of Von Miller.

Even I suffered the effects of TebowMania ...clients across the west all wanted to ask about Timmay ...and either loved or hated him. As a Broncos fan, it was obnoxious ...

New England is absolutely perfect for Tebow and his schtick in so many ways and this will be the Reckoning. Elway asked Tebow to move to TE and his brother said, "No." The Broncos gave him a choice between NY and Jacksonville (the only two offers on the table) and his brother chose NY for obvious reasons and ratings.

My bet is that Tebow will demonstrate some humility and do whatever he is asked. And that is not something he has always done, though he has always been open to leveraging his *it* both on and off the field.

I always thought if he lined up on Defense at Safety or maybe a "blitzing LB" that he'd at least force the opponent to call a timeout.

"Wait ....What the fuck?! Why is Tebow lined up at Strong Safety?"

@ Vic........minus this Patriots thing that is happening. Do you really believe that there are 31 teams that dont need a qb of his caliber on their respective team? That to me is being railroaded. Some of these guys would rather have their team be shitty and be given no attention whatsoever, than be shitty and have everyone rooting for you and buying the merchandise. I call that idiotic and not good business at all. I call it fucking stupid. He's a genuine good person whether your into religion or not(count me not). It' s nice to root for the good guy, since we always have to turn on the tube and see pieces of shit thrown in our face day in and day out. Let me throw this out there. I hate Ben " the rapist" Roethelisberger, but everytime he does something good in a game, he's the fucking best. I think he sucks and I want him gone. Not because he sucks, but because he's a fucking rapist. That fucker deserves no attention that he gets, but he gets it and we have to see it. Id rather see Tebow get the attention, even if he does suck. You know why? Cuz he's a fucking good guy and he's actually a pretty darn good football player.

And Vic you are totally acting like he took time from football to do his "schtick" when we both know that is not the case. He did his thing after. He certainly didnt call timeout during practice to sign an autograph and he certainly never blew off practice for a sermon. He committed to football 100% and did his "schtick" on his own time. He found better things to do with his time than going and having children with 4 different mommas.

All Tim Tebow wants to do play football and proclaim his love for God, and also live his faith. That's a problem for some people, many of whom, I would claim with some reasonable certainty, applauded Mohammed Ali for championing his own religious, social and political beliefs and denounced those who denounced him as "racists," "bigots," and "reactionaries."

We need more players like Tebow in the NFL and fewer like Ben Rothlisberger. Then maybe the so-called "hype" over a player like Tebow would actually diminish.

I believe I am the lone Patriots fan on this board, so I want to speak up on this signing. It is awful. I hope Tebow gets cut before preseason kicks off. He is a waste of money and a roster space in New England. They would be far better off signing a veteran DE to take up a roster space right now. The media circus that comes with a 3rd string QB is not worth it. Tebow has shown no evidence that he is willing to ever switch positions so what point is there to him being on the Patriots? Even if he switched to TE, the Pats have Gronk, A-Hern, Jake Ballard, and Hoomanawanui. All better options than a guy who has never played TE. Even the rookie FA TE, Zach Sudfeld, they signed is a better option. You can't put in wildcat packages for Tebow in New England because in no scenario is it better to have Tebow on the field and Brady on the sideline.

So what is there for Tebow to do in NE? Be a FB? A position the Patriots use on about 0.001% of their plays. I don't hate Tebow, but I hate this signing because it doesn't make any sense to me. I don't understand what on earth he brings to the Patriots other than a media circus.

Annnnnnnnnd now we are all talking about Tebow again. God damn it. Might as well turn off every sports station for a few months.

i do not believe tebow is a top 32 qb in the league. i bet half the teams in the league have a back up that is better at playing the nfl qb position than tebow. he is a great athlete but in no way shape or form is he a good qb. he can play in the nfl just not at qb. i have to agree with vic on all of this. if you go back and look at his throwing stats, he wasnt great in denver like you seem to believe. yes the TEAM won while he was at qb, but alot of that was inspite of tebow's inability to play qb effectively. that doesnt mean he didnt make great plays but every qb in the nfl has the ability to make a great play here or there. if they didnt they wouldnt be in the nfl. that doesnt mean they can play qb effectively.

What if BB transforms TT into some kind of viable position player? Is that possible or likely?

I just read that they actually signed him as a QB. Which means he is getting cut unless they decide to keep three QBs this year. I'd be surprised if they do that.

I don't know how BB transforms him into a viable position player with the roster the Pats have. TE or FB seem like his only fit and he's a little undersized for TE. 6'3" and 236 is not typical TE size in the NFL. At best, he would be 4th or 5th on the depth chart at TE and the Pats rarely use a FB.

I'm a bit of a Pats fan, myself. How can any Michigan fan not be?

I also like Bill Belichick.

I think he has something up his sleeve for Tebow. they would not have taken him just to cut him like that.

The wild card is whether he tones down the absurd over-proselytizing of his religion. that'll get on Belichick's nerves real quick. if it becomes a distraction from focusing on football, Tebow's gone.

I'm a big Patriots fan and I don't see what the big deal is

SO he comes to camp with a shot at earning a position. If he does, then he is on the team. If he doesn't, then he gets cut.

Why does this have to be anything more than that?

I don't see how anyone can say that it was proven that Tebow can't play QB while he was in NY. I don't remember him ever being used. Was it because they didn't think he could play or were they hesitant to give him a chance? Did I miss where they gave him the QB position for a run of games to actually see how he would do and then he looked like crap? Did that happen?

He proved he couldn't play QB in Denver. 46.5% completion rate doesn't even come close to cutting it in the NFL. That's worse than Mark Sanchez. He also had as many turnovers as he had passing TDs. I've also heard plenty of chatter that Tebow is absolutely brutal in practice. That's why the Jets never gave him a chance.

There are two plausible scenarios I'm seeing with this:

1. BB is using the media circus to take away the attention on the WR turnover. The new WRs will be flying off the radar now and there will not be anymore talk about how they will replace Wes Welker and Brandon Lloyd.

2. Tim Tebow is used to practice against the read option. He stays on as the 3rd string QB and they use him as a scout team offense QB before they play teams like Washington, Seattle, San Fran, Philadelphia and Carolina. Oh wait. They only play Carolina so....

I woke up this morning angry with myself for allowing myself to be drawn back in to TebowMania.

I swore it off and was so glad when it left town and am going to stop now.

But, as an aside, isn't Ryan Mallett still in New England?? I don't see Timmay ever being a regular, starting QB again ...he'll be a Belichick Red Zone gimmick and be lined up as a mind fuck against opponents. And Josh McDaniels can try to prove that he wasn't an incredible bust as head coach and completely wrong in taking Tebow in the 1st Round (so New England wouldn't, as he said at the time...).
