I thought about including this in the "Fuck You" thread, but then I wondered the extent of such selfish ;) friends having weddings on game days.

This year, I will have to miss the Minny and MSU game due to lack of forethought. Does anyone else have this happen often and how irritating is it?

You better believe I'll be streaming/watching them at the wedding though.

Last year, Illinois game. Try following that one on smart phone....I was like WTF is going on? The score kept changing every time I refreshed it.

Luckily im still only 20 and my friends remain unmarried. But a fall wedding is inexcusable.

I've noticed that my friends that have wealthier parents have their weddings in the late spring or summer. friends of more modest backgrounds have theirs during the fall.

I'm guessing churches/banquet halls/country clubs etc. charge a lot less then.

of course, it all seems silly to me... just sign a prenuptial agreement, then go down to the courthouse and get your marriage certificate, then go out for a nice dinner.

what kind of ego-maniacal lunatics insist that their relationship should be the center of dozens upon dozens of other peoples' days?

You know... now that i think about it, I really can't complain. The only games I've missed due to weddings were the 1st half of the Utah game, and the Toledo game, both in 2008.

NO THANKS!

Ah fuck this thread made me go check when my buddys wedding is next month of course its on a saturday.

The October 15 against msu. which i had bought tickets to go to e. lansing to see.

what a fucken douche bag.

I got stuck with a wedding 3.5hrs away last weekend. We were there Friday night through Sunday morning in the middle of nowhere about 20mi outside of Cadillac on Labor Day weekend and the start of college football season. It was total horseshit.

Weddings and locations are definitely cheaper in the Spring/Fall and in places like NYC and DC you see more Friday night and Sunday weddings for the same reason.

But anyone who intentionally gets married on a Fall Saturday ... esp if the friends are fans, is asking for unhappy guests, at the very least.

Our August wedding not only eliminated such concerns but TheVictors was played at the reception as the prelude to the best man's toast!

Whats wrong with Winter weddings? As long as it's indoors who cares how shitty the weather is?

I'm facing 4 this season...BUT 2 of 'em are on Fridays! At least some people understand.

Well, most weddings devote a not-insignificant amount of time to pictures, and you can't do pictures outside in the winter... if you care about that sort of thing... I sure as hell don't.

also... status; some of the more extremely opulent weddings I've been to are only being held for the parents of the bride to advertise their wealth and social status... and if you are having your wedding during a season when it's widely known that wedding costs are cheaper, it defeats the purpose.

Whenever I get married. Having it on a game day is a good way to get divorced on the same day.

I gave you karma points for suffering through that.

I'm still mad about the last wedding I went to... the cheap ass couple wouldn't let me bring a date... the flight was expensive, and a couple of the people I hoped to see there (old college buddies) cancelled the week of... like I should've done.

I don't want to even think about how much money the whole fucking trip cost.

after that experience, I resolved not to go to any more weddings unless they are family, or within easy driving distance of my home...

Only gameday wedding I been to was the Notre Dame game in 2005, needless to say it wasn't a total loss and the irony of it was they got married in a catholic church

My friend's wedding is this Saturday as many posters already know. There have been so many complaints about it being during the Michigan and Notre Dame game that the bride had to post a facebook message reassuring everyone the game would be on during the reception. Little did those other complainers know that I had already bitched so much they had planned on having the game on for me no matter what.

For those of you who don't already know, my Mom could have given me four free tickets and four free hotel rooms for the game if it wasn't for me being in this wedding. I can barely type that without punching my laptop.

All this shared ranting and raving actually is making me feel better about the situation. Glad my friends arent the only idiots and I'm glad I'm not the only obsessive UM fan that values THE TEAM over shared nuptials. Now, if the receptions were dry there would be no way in hell I'd be missing a game. ;)

I also have to go to a wedding the weekend of the Minnesota game, which will also be opening weekend of baseball playoffs. There BETTER be tv's at the reception.

I was the best man in a wedding during the ND game 6 years ago. I suggested that we move the time of the wedding away from kick off and was almost killed by a bride who didnt see the humor in it. Luckily the wedding was just outside of Syracuse and there were a lot of Hart fans there so I found a way to see most of it.
