Other tournament games

The NCAA tournament is usually a great spectacle, but 2 years ago when we saw a championship game that featured a 7 seed vs an 8 had me starting to rethink whether it is really a good way to determine a champion.

I think a better way might be to re-seed all the teams after every round, so highest remaining seed in each region plays lowest remaining and so forth. Though I get that would be a logistical nightmare and render impossible the ability for everyone to fill out a bracket ahead of time from beginning to end (which let's face it even if the NCAA would never admit as much due to the gambling component, is a HUGE consideration).

I agree it's far from perfect but games like a 7 vs. 8 final don't happen often - not sure what the next worst matchup was but this year played out much like it was supposed to with the exception of a few big upsets early. All four 1 seeds made it to the Elite 8 and two of the three that lost got knocked out by 2 seeds. Because of other upsets in the first 2 rounds, even Syracuse as a 10, was seeded above everyone they played after Dayton until the FF. And as a 10 v 7, beating Dayton wasn't exactly an upset - I saw Dayton play a bunch this year and picked Syracuse to win that game. Then in the FF they played the perpetually overseeded cavs.

The thing that will annoy me most about this tournament is the squandered opportunity for MSU - I'm not convinced we'd beat Nova or UNC most nights but this year it was just about anyone's to win (anyone of 6 or 7 teams anyway).
