Packers @ Lions

Early in the season. ... but I see gbs offense being better than ours and gbs defense being better than ours. Need to have a dumb free game and turn A-Rod over to have a chance.

When they go 3 4 and 5 wide outs we are screwed. Last i read we have 3 active corners on our roster. So we are looking in a 5 wide out set having a ps guy and someone off the street at best, or 2 guys that were on the street only a few days ago defending Rogers.

Maybe we need to put Fauria on the line and just hope he can bat some balls.

I can understand why you'd say their offense is currently better than ours, but what's your explanation about the Packers' defense being better than the Lions' defense?

In my opinion, we have a slightly better D-line. We're very strong up the middle and have mediocre DEs. Green Bay has awful DTs since Raji is on injured reserve, with good DEs/OLBs. Our LBs are significantly better than Green Bay's. Their cornerbacks are significantly better than our cornerbacks. I'd give the edge for safeties to us.

The fact Carolinas awful offense scored that much on us without even running the ball well is a recipe for disaster when we go up against even a decent offense. Travis Benjamin and Greg Olsen are the only ppl on your team...and they scored 24 pts. A rod might throw for 500 yards unless our dline figures it out.... quick.

They had good play calling to get Olsen open. Benjamin didn't do much but had one big circus catch against good coverage by Mathis. 3 points was from the Ross fumble nothing more. 21 is acceptable to give up on the road. Newton can play. Talking about a 12-4 team that had worse weapons in 2013.

So Rodgers was only blitzed 3 times by Seattle. 2/3 against the blitz

Blitzed 16 times by the Jets. 11/16 2 TDs

Don't blitz him. Get consistent front 4 pressure. If they do blitz him, better be rarely and it better hit home.

Ya we dont get consistent pressure with the front 4.....gunther was fired for that....remember?

We got plenty of pressure just no sacks...but from what I have been told pressure is better than sacks.

I always hated those sack fumbles and big loss of yards

Not every sack is a sack fumble. The Quin pick was due to a hurry by the way. We had 4 sacks, really 5 (bogus tripping penalty) in Week 2. That's a good sack day. But of course you didn't pay attention.

Not all pressures result in in picks either. You get a sack it is a loss of yards. You get a pressure you may get a pick or incomplete pass, but you can also get a completion.

Ask any coach in the league what he prefers

If you read my comment i was responding to Hughes takling about Gunther and not getting sacks. So in context we are talking about last year...not Sunday

You get a sack fumble you may not recover or you may just get a normal sack. Coaches prefer turnovers and getting a QB to move consistently out of his normal throwing motion. Plus they know you can't get a sack on every play but consistent pressure is key.

Most incompletes and picks in the NFL are due to hits/hurries. They are very important. Sacks are important but happen less often than hits/hurries.

So you said we had plenty of pressure last year...but we were one of the worst teams in creating turnovers.

So either pressure is not better than sacks or our secondary couldnt capitalize on the opportunities....So which was it

Both.

And lkp....we had a good sack day because of Mosley and tulloch. The des did next to nothing.

Pressure got half our picks. Bad fumble recovery rate. Plenty of picks and better secondary this year

Two half sacks, 2 hits and three hurries. Ansah and Johnson banged up too

Dt pressure is better anyway. Tougher on qb
