PFF Review Week 5

Slay is a good CB. Levy is a good LB but hurt. Ngata is a good DT but hurt. Walker did solid but is now hurt. Quin is a good safety. Ansah is a good DE. Mathis had a bad first week but decent since.

Lewis/Bynes have done well in run D but have coverage problems. We have big nickel coverage problems. Jones had a bad Week 5. Tulloch is terrible and slowed after this injury in coverage. Ihedigbo was bad Week 1, good the next two weeks then average the next two in coverage.

15 turnovers allowed by the offense have killed this defense plus injuries.

Offense is a mess. Laken/Swanson are young so there's that. RT is a mess with both Waddle/Lucas playing terribly. Reiff has rebounded well the last two weeks and can run block.

Stafford is not playing well but it's better than most think. Again no support. Worst run support, 8th worst in pressure and sometimes the weapons are well blanketed in these first five weeks.

Slays' negative play was still good coverage with no safety help. Sometimes you just tip your cap to the other team.

Good news for next year
Ngata,Walker,Sammie Lee Hill, Fairley and CJ Mosley are all free agents. Bring the entire band back together.

As of right now no reason to bring back Ngata. He has played decent, but cant stay healthy. Can draft or sign a cheaper younger options

Muhammed Wilkerson and Andre Smith. That is who they should but won't target.

Nobody wants to see the band when their lead singer(Suh) won't join the tour. Who wants to hear Journey with their karaoke singer?

No, it's not better than we think with Stafford. He's the 33rd rated QB per QBR. Hint, there's only 32 teams in the NFL.

Most INTs in the league.

With better coaching he could be top 30. They are holding him back. Let the gunslinger loose.

Proof Slay had good coverage on that play. Tip your cap to the Cardinals on all five of these plays.

From the article:

"On the snap, Slay played close to Brown, but didn't jam the receiver, giving him a clean release to the outside. The corner turned to locate the ball, but did so too early in the route and didn't get his head back around as the ball arrived, waving and missing, despite pretty good positioning."

That isn't good coverage...good position but bad coverage.

They must be finding something I am missing, because I thought Slay and Reiff were absolutely atrocious.

I agree with this - Slay got beat pretty badly atleast three times from what I noticed (and I wasnt watching that closely). Atleast two of those times were absolute back breakers as well (40+yard bomb when Zona was on the 1 yard line) and then for the TD to put the Cards up 21...

My beef with Slay is he talked so damn much this offseason and damn near broke his shoulder patting himself on the back, yet then continues to get beat atleast once every game. He is fast as shit, I think he ran a 4.3 in the combine, so the only way you get beat like that consistently is to be out of position and/or not playing the ball (like Houston was famous for doing). Regardless, as our so called 'lock down corner' he needs to play a lot better.

well this pretty much is the opposite of what I just said hes been doing haha, but regardless, he needs to play better.
