MIN-DET GRADES: BRIDGEWATER, DIGGS SHINE IN VIKINGS WIN
MATT CLAASSEN

Here are the top takeaways and highest-graded players from the Vikings? 28-19 win over the Lions.

Minnesota Vikings
? QB Teddy Bridgewater put together a solid outing on Sunday. He was particularly effective downfield on passes targeted 10+ yards downfield, where he completed seven passes for 147 yards and a touchdown. His two highest-graded games this season have now come against the Lions, with a +2.1 yesterday, and a +4.4 overall grade in Week 2.

? Rookie WR Stefon Diggs was impressive for the second-straight week, and looks to be working his way up the depth chart. He led the Vikings? wide receivers in snaps played for the second consecutive week, playing 60 of 75 offensive snaps. Diggs had his way against Lions? CB Rashean Mathis, hauling in five passes for 106 yards, capped by a beautiful diving catch for a touchdown on an out-and-up against the veteran.

? Granted, CB Xavier Rhodes was tasked with covering Calvin Johnson for the majority of the game, but it was his second-straight below-average outing. He allowed only four catches for 40 yards on five targets; however, one went for a touchdown and he was also penalized twice in coverage. His 10 penalties on the season are tied for the league lead with Brandon Browner, and of the 10, nine have been holding or pass interference penalties.

Top performers:

K Blair Walsh (+2.7)
DT Linval Joseph (+2.6)
QB Teddy Bridgewater (+2.1)
C Joe Berger (+2.1)
RG Michael Harris (+1.9)

Detroit Lions
? Outside of the one big run by RB Adrian Peterson, the Lions played pretty well against Minnesota. Peterson?s other 18 carries went for just 23 yards, six of which were for losses. Out of the 30 rushes by Viking running backs, they were hit at or behind the line of scrimmage 19 times. LBs Stephen Tulloch and Josh Bynes played great against the run, with +2.4 and +2.0 run defense grades, respectively.

? Just another day for WR Calvin Johnson (+2.3). He had five receptions for 86 yards, a touchdown, and a heroic catch to prevent a possible interception on a pass where QB Matthew Stafford was hit as he threw late in the game. His counterpart, Golden Tate, did not put forth a similar performance. Tate caught just two passes for 14 yards on six targets, with one dropped pass.

? DE Ezekiel Ansah seems to be doing just fine without having Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley playing alongside him. Ansah is our 10th-ranked edge defender so far in 2015 (82.8 rating). He had another solid outing this week, as he picked up seven total pressures on 27 pass rushes and two run stops.

Top performers:

DE Ezekiel Ansah (+3.7)
LT Riley Rieff (+3.4)
LB Josh Bynes (+2.6)
WR Calvin Johnson (+2.3)
DE Jason Jones (+2.1)

Wow, AP sucks. Dude only had 14 yards on 11 carries. Lucky he plays on a team where they give him more than 10 carries per game. If he was on the Lions he would be battling Winn for the #5 RB slot, praying to make the Practice Squad.

How did Reiff get a positive grade? Lol

Run blocking? I would look but PFF got rid of their game by game grades and signature stats.

And really with all the blitzes, Reiff could have had a decent game in pass pro. Wasn't alwasy from the left side. Up the middle and blitz from other side at times.

The Lions's coaching staff is stupid...but come on!

?????

That's where the subjective part of there grades come in. Did they determine that Reiff wasn't responsible for having a certain rusher on a certain play??

IDK.....I want to see Swansons grade. HAS to be -10 or more.

I thought Tulloch had a good game as well. Mathis, Quin and Ihedigbo had to be big negatives.....they were simply awful. We cannot play Mathis man to man anymore against anyone with speed. He cannot run with fast WR and ends up giving them GIANT cushions.

Maybe Raiola was a lot better than we all let on. This line seems lost, and Swanson clearly cannot handle the position.

Stafford had a 126 QB rating on Sunday. 4.5 YPC from our run game. 0 turnovers. Stafford is 65% completion on the year. On pace for around 27-28 TDs.

Yet we lose.

Fire the oline coach and bring Raoila in, maybe he can make sense of this mess, and work with Swanson 1on 1

News flash, it's worse than "that bad" and has been every game unless we're playing a weak dline. It's like the coaches get false hope when Stafford has a game where he has adequate time to go through his progressions

he also led our offense to 5 total yards from the end of the 1st qtr to midway thru the 4th.....which lost us the game.

You can utilize stats to paint whatever picture you want. The fact is our offense sucked ass...only scored 19 points at home vs a nominal at best opponent and it got 3 coaches fired lol. Stafford was not good outside of the 1st qtr.

Joe Lombardi and that horrific OLine lost us that game. Not Stafford....

And when we had a quality play call and solid oline play he would throw a dirt ball to a wide open calvin Johnson 20 yards down the field. Everyone is at fault....

That horrific oline has two of your boys first rounders and two of his third rounders playing on it. Why he picked Ebron over a legit tackle you'll have to explain to me because you "understand" the pick.

Stafford was 69 percent completion under immense pressure

The only dirt ball here is Hughes blaming Stafford

wide open. 3 qtr. would have gave us great field position. throws it in the dirt. Min scores on next drive. Stafford needs to give his defense a chance sometimes.

Stafford can miss once or twice a game. Stafford did give his defense a chance. The Oline and defense (really just secondary) blew it.

The defense gave up 15 points in first half with offense doing well and 7 points to open the 3rd Quarter. They should have been rested.

Stafford doesn't have a defense. There is nothing right now resembling a defense in Detroit.

That's not to let Stafford off the hook... but this mythical Defense just doesn't exist.
