Pistons and Bucks make a deal

Does it really? So we now have someone off the bench that will soak up a few minutes that would otherwise go to a combination of Galloway/Thomas/GR3. If it makes the Pistons better, it will be incredibly minimal.

These trades make me frustrated, because it further illustrates the groupthink in the Pistons organization that they feel they have the right pieces at the core and they just need to add a little bit around them, when in reality the entire thing needs to start over.

They made the mistake when they went and got Griffin. They need to get lucky / do what GS did. These days you better have stars and lots of them to win.

It's not necessarily luck. There's a process that has been in the NBA for decades that you have to follow if you want to win. For every team (Detroit 2004) that wins a title with the "team concept," there are about 50 examples of teams that win with stars.

Pistons continue to run on the treadmill of mediocrity, and honestly, I only think it will end when the players themselves want it to (Griffin retires, Jackson doesn't resign, Drummond leaves). Gores has no clue what he's doing, and management is being spun a tale that they have a big 3 that can compete with anyone.

You are clueless on how their situation currently is. Drummond, Griffin and Jackson are all stuck here so get over that part. Galloway is an ok bench player, but those other two are trash. This kid is better than all of them. Plus a late first pick for NOTHING. How is this even a debate?

The biggest reason why the NBA can really suck. I'm not sure it's decades now. In the 80's a big star and some good talent around you could win. Now granted some teams had the big 3 or more, those Boston team that won 9 times of a 11 come to mind. Maybe that is decades but having 1 star invite others/recruit to join them - I can't stand it. I hate the same teams going to the finals. It's no fun unless you're a fan of one of the those teams. Wings will be cup contenders before the Pistons become a contender..

So, do you want me to pat the Pistons on the back for adding a bench guy who is going to play several minutes a game? Sure. Way to go guys. You went from winning 41 games last year, to adding a guy that will help you win 41 games again.

They ruined a franchise that was once so incredibly proud. You do realize that those guys are "stuck" here for a reason, right? The ORGANIZATION brought them here and continued to support them by offering ridiculous contracts. You say "stuck" as though it's not the Pistons' fault.

And the 30th pick is not even worth a mention, especially in a draft that is as shallow as this one with a franchise that has been pathetic in recent memory with draft picks.

I'll just leave it at this. I'm not mad at this trade. It is what it is. It's a big nothing-burger that's going to help on a microscopic level.

I'm mad at the franchise. These trades tell me that they are convinced what they have is good enough. And to your last point, I think in sports, you aren't stuck. If the Tigers can get out of Fielder's contract, teams can make it work in almost any spot.

The most damming thing was what they did with Blake. Instead of building for the future with draft picks and cap space, they traded for a guy who helped them a little bit in the short term, but he's not going to be here long.

There's nothing to look forward to with this team. And as they continue to win JUST enough, they'll never improve.

Sadly, this is where they are post Stan Van. This new group hasn't really made any bad moves since they've been at the healm. I'm willing to give it time. The east is will likely be a shit show this coming year. Milwaukee is the only team I'd fear. Leonard leaving Toronto and Kyrie leaving Boston, likely both to Western conference teams. Detroit isn't that far off from being a top 3 team in the east.

I think the new group's biggest mistakes are backing what they have. I would expect a forward-thinking organization that comes in with new ideas would realize that this thing ain't working. They've finished basically 8th through 11th place for the better part of a decade. They have no assets for the future and a product that is not exciting or hopeful.

These players, mostly Drummond and Jackson have had a LONG time to prove that they can make noise in the East, and they just are not good enough. Jackson can't shoot, Drummond is a center better served in the 80s. This move back to Detroit was supposed to bring energy and the fans back, but the team is now basically in the bottom with attendance.

This thing has to be rebooted. It'll be painful, and there will be multiple years where they are going to be at the bottom of the standings, but it has to happen. Detroit is not attractive enough to lure superstars, so they have to go about the process the other way, which is through the draft. I cringe every time I hear Gores talk about how important it is for this team to keep "making the playoffs." To be honest, I can't even remember them in this playoff series they were swept aside so quickly.

I agree about the 3 big contracts we have. I would be happy if they traded 1 or all 3 but I am not going to complain about this move. I think this move is minimal but it was a good move. We will see what happens, I hope they get rid of at least Jackson soon and Drummond dinner rather than later.

I'm not mad about the trade either, but I think the trade speaks to why these guys are screwed. It's just a feeling that we need to add a few pieces here and there and they will be fine, rather than completely demoing this thing.

Does it make the Pistons better? I guess. The improvement is going to be absolutely minimal.

Since Gores took over, I think the organization lost every direction they had before. Hell, they don't even have a GM. The owner spends the majority of the season in California and is beyond disconnected to this fanbase, other than showing up once every month in a white shirt and getting drunk.

If they TRULY wanted to do the right thing and move on from these guys, they could. They will likely have to eat salary or give up more than they should for other teams to take a risk, but it's possible. I just think Gores treats this like a money pit and is boys with Drummond. He doesn't understand the game.

Maybe they can package the 2 picks and Any player for something?
Damn svg , and Damn Gores for being a dumbass.
