Pittsburgh police to carry riot gear in case Mueller is fired, protests expected

sounds like an excuse to buy riot gear.

nobody is going to riot over this, especially in Pittsburgh.

maybe in DC you'll see a march or a protest.

Trump can fire Mueller, but he can't touch NY State's AG Schneiderman.

I'll take the other side of that bet. The marches may happen but I doubt they'll be very well attended.

I'd lean towards some marches being well attended, some being poorly attended, and which one you see depends the way the news coverage leans. However many people show up, it can be spun either way, so it will be.

it's an "astro-turf" campaign, like the Tea Party. like I said, you might see actual protests in DC, or a handful of other cities where national politics is an industry in and of itself, but not in "normal" places.

the avg. American cares about their job, simple entertainment/sports, food, and providing for themselves and their families.

Trump firing Mueller is not something that matters to them, nor should it.

why? are they using disposable or single-use riot gear?

This is a weird response. You think single-use gear is the most likely reason a police department might want to buy more gear? There's no other more likely reason that you can think of?

Just the opposite.

Pressured by Greenpeace and Friends of the Earth, the Pittsburgh City Council has declared the disposable single use riot gear an environmental catastrophe; worse than disposable water bottles and shopping bags are viewed by the State of California.

So they're replacing the disposable single use riot gear with more eco-friendly, durable multiuse riot gear; and any cop who shows up to a riot without the multiuse riot gear is going to have to pay a monetary penalty for a replacement set of riot gear.

do you think the police are preparing for riots because they want an excuse to buy more riot gear? Public safety aint got nothin' to do with cops and riot gear.

it's only a weird response if you think it's serious. I don't actually think disposable riot gear is a thing (except maybe for things like tear gas canisters which may be recycleable and zip tie cuffs, I think most riot gear like the vests, shields, battons, helmets, vehicles, etc can all be reused). if you think it's a sarcastic mocking of a paranoid cop hater then you might see the humor in it.

I understand the point of your rhetorical question. You're dismissing the possibility of a police dept. wanting to buy riot gear by proposing something absurd as their reason. The humor isn't what's weird, it's being unaware that buying new riot gear for all sorts of reasons is a very real and current thing all over the US.

I never would have believed it until I did it.

A bing search for disposable single use riot gear yields...

EDIT: Man, I gotta get me some of that cool shit...

we have all this gear in women's medium. Having the wife dress up in full gear and beat me up is a real turn on.
