Pittsburgh police to carry riot gear in case Mueller is fired, protests expected

I understand the point of your rhetorical question. You're dismissing the possibility of a police dept. wanting to buy riot gear by proposing something absurd as their reason. The humor isn't what's weird, it's being unaware that buying new riot gear for all sorts of reasons is a very real and current thing all over the US.

I'm not unaware, I'm just not paranoid enough to think the probability of riot planning as an excuse to buy more gear is significant.

It's obviously all disposable. It wouldn't be as intimidating if it had scuffs all over it.

Jerrell Worthy disagrees...

If you're not unaware of it happening, then what's it got to do with paranoia to think it could be an excuse?

I'm not unaware of the possibility of it happening. The paranoia comes in when you thinks it's probable, especially highly probable which seems to clearly be the case here since he thought it was the one thing worth mentioning as the most likely reason for the plans.

And I agreed. So did Mitchrapp. So that's 3 of us that are paranoid.

If you really think we're paranoid or full of hate, what do you get out of these threads? I'd block somebody if I thought that about them.

I don't think you're paranoid about everything, or full of hate because you agree on this one point. I'm surprised you agree with him here but there would have to be more of a pattern before I conclude that you're a paranoid cop hater like MC - unless you agree with him that cops are fundamentally racist and they target black people for murder and systematically oppress them.

I don't block anyone for any reason because I think that's a cop out but your question is a valid one. I often think the politics board is is a big waste of time given that the level of discourse frequently disintegrates into ad hominem and the quality of the posts and posters isn't what it once was - the mc, turok and bob leftist circus gets old. That's why I walk away from it for days and weeks at a time. It's pretty easy to do since the MSU sports board is pretty dead but I still check that somewhat regularly and whenever there's news on MSU sports. Every now and then when I do that I check back here and comment if there's something interesting to talk about but I grow tired of it a lot quicker than I used to.

FYI and not to imply that you asked, but I've done it once. I don't owe anybody my attention (and vice versa) and if I want to see some of the posts here, I don't think it means I have to see everyone's.

It's obviously all disposable. It wouldn't be as intimidating if it had scuffs all over it.

"Single use" was the more significant term; of course it's all disposable; everything is subject to wear and tear, and probably more importantly, obsolescence.

Let's compare the advancements in riot gear to the various ideations of the Batsuit.

For Adam West, the Batsuit was basically just a souped up ballet leotard.

Then came Michael Keaton and the various other Batmans in Tim Burton' Battiverse, and the suit had become basically a suit of armor.

Going forward to Christian Baile and it was a Kevlar military fighting suit; both hard to penetrate yet fairly flexible.

Not much seems to have changed from the Baile Batsuit to Affleck's attire.

But - all those Batmans wore their Batsuits more than once, or at least they were never depicted as being single use.

Which makes sense, because one would think that Bruce Wayne would have been an environmentalist himself, and concerned for the landfill that single use Battire would create.

I forget where I saw it, but for at least one of the suits, to maintain flexibility, the only part that was armored sufficiently to stop a bullet was the chest, and the bat logo was the lone bright part to provide an easy to spot target.

you're free to do what you want - I'm only speaking for myself and how I feel about it and the few people who have made a point to tell me they're blocking me then told others they blocked me when they see my posts quoted. Certainly, if there was someone here posting objectionable and/or grossly inappropriate messages, images or sentiments or someone like that monkeyking knucklehead from the espn board, that would be a different story.

I'd rather be that, than a creepy cop lover like you.

You were probably the kinda guy who called the cops on other kids in the dorm for smoking pot.

Right because if you don't hate cops, you love them - makes sense. I'm actually neither a lover or a hater of the police I'm just not dumb enough to buy into the unsubstantiated accusations of them being racist, out to kill unarmed black people, etc, etc.

It's too bad the first time you got high was probably with some fat chick you didn't realize was a lesbian who ended brainwashing you into being a useful idiot for the left while listening to Indigo Girls cds in her dorm room. Pathetic.

As a whole no, but you have to take into account that some officers are racists.

I agree but so are so are some accountants, lawyers, doctors, teachers, etc. I'm not saying there aren't any racist cops or that racism doesn't exist. There's some portion of every subset of society that holds racist, sexist or bigoted views but I don't think they're exclusively or even disproportionately represented by any one race, creed or gender nor do I think racism or discrimination is anywhere near the problem mc would have you believe it is among police or society in general.

Way more likely that Mueller will throw in the towel than be fired. There was no collusion on the part of Trump. Do we not all get that yet? Oy.

If Trump is hit with something, it will probably be obstruction of justice. I don't think collusion is actually a legal thing. If it was, we'd already know there was collusion with a British company.

Not even disproportionately? You think there's some principle of racism, sexism, and bigotry where it is evenly distributed across race, creed, and gender? You might be more of a believer in equality than I am.

And yet collusion was the basis for the appointment of Special Counsel. Do you understand that? The whole thing was a travesty from the get go.
