Play-off Rotation

Rich what? Richmond![/color]]It will depend on the series goes. If we win game 1, then lose the next two you better believe JV gets thrown out there.

That would probably happen, but I think it's a mistake. You need both games in that scenario, you may as well let JV have somewhat regular rest/ regular cycle.

I'd like our chances of coming back more with JV and Fister/Scherzer going those two games rather than Porcello and if we win JV.

Rather not save JV for game 5 and end up losing game 4.

Buy you still want your best as much as possible. I know I'd sleep better if we lost a JV game 7 over a porcello or penny game 7.

I understand the thought process, but at the same time you have no idea how Verlander can pitch on short rest. He is such a work horse in his starts that he may fatigue earlier in a short-rest start. Is it really worth the chance of neutering your best pitcher? I don't think it is worth the risk.

I just think people have this mindset of "Verlander=Win, Porcello=Loss" and I don't think it is that simple. Remember that Porcello has more wins against AL Playoff teams than Verlander this year.

Dumb stat to look at though.

Porcello also has an ERA closer to 5 than 4.

Or in simpler terms, closer to Penny than to Scherzer.

I'd trust JV on 2 days rest more then Ricky on 5.

I only used that to illustrate that Porcello is not a worthless pitcher when it comes to playoff time.

He is streaky. If Porcello is pitching well come October, then you pitch him in Game 4.

I've seen JV go 120 pitches and be dominate to the end. So I have no problem with JV pitching 3 times in a 7 game series. A tired JV over a fresh Porcello any and every day.
