Both teams will now have the opportunity to touch the ball in overtime, barring a touchdown on the first possession.

Get StartedI don't like it..
Play defense if you want the ball back.
the flip of a coin shouldnt decide the outcome...and if you can play good D and hold them to a FG or no points then you get your shot.
good rule change....
and the first game the lions win because of it you will be jumping for joy
I think they are going to be changing how replays are done to. No more going under the hood. All replays will be handled by a replay official upstairs and he will determine if a play will be upheld or overruled.
I still like no replays. Sure the refs fk'd up but they did for both teams and refs still fk up. How many times since replay began that a play wasn't over-turned when it should have been and vice-verse. All it does now is make the game longer..
This turnover rule is the Lion rule. We got screwed because Schwartz had to use a challenge on the bogus Scheffler and Logan fumbles Week 17. Now they would be automatically reviewed and Schwartz wouldn't have lost that challenge on Logan and could have challenged the Young TD that was called a non-TD. Alot of close turnvoers are challenged anyway so they aren't adding way more challenges. Just saving coaching challenges for important non called TDs.
To Mitch's point they got the Logan challenge wrong anyways, if they had got it right Detroit wouldn't have lost that challenge. Challenges often don't get things right anyways and extend the game. If there are 5 turnovers in a game that means 5 more stoppages of 5 minutes or more extending the game by another 1/2 hour! Also whatever happened to the rule that the only a certain amount of time could be used to review a play? It started at like 2 minutes and now has become on average 5 or more. One game is going to be like 5 hours.
Finally if you are going to review TDs why not review them both ways, ie make endzone plays reviewable if the ball crosses the goalline in possession of the player by catch or run. Therefore Titus challenge not needed.
That was actually discussed to review all endzone plays but I think instead they went with only turnovers because they are more game changing and allows for coaches to save their challenges for those rare non TD calls. Most turnovers are obvious so they shouldn't take too long. Usually they call a close play TD and review afterwards but now the coaches will have enough challenges to review those rare non TD calls like with Young. And yes they got the Logan fumble wrong due to not enough evidence and it screwed the Lions losing a challenge. That won't happen again at least losing a challenge, they could still get the review wrong like with Logan.
Most coaches review non TD calls and close turnovers anyway. They aren't adding way more challenges IMHO.
Dude they cut to a commercial after a turnover alot anyways. It won't add that much time.
