Preseason Game 1: Browns @ Lions Thread

Disagree completely. I just see no reason for Orlovsky to be on an nfl roster, ESPECIALLY the Lions roster. Imo, the Lions have the most dline depth in the NFL.

Didn't Caldwell say that he wants to see Moore with the 1's and 2's?

I just now finished watching the game on the DVR. I had the Browns broadcast for some reason. My take aways:

1. Johnny Football is actually Jesus Christ.
2. Kellen Moore is better than Stafford, it's a crime he never gets an opportunity.
3. I'm surprised Ryan Broyles didn't get hurt. Seriously how is he able to walk.
4. All of our draft picks are busts.
5. Forget about getting trade value for Mikel Leshoure, he is garbage.
6. I'm glad we didn't do much to address cornerback, everything is fine.
7. I love that the NFL is finally cracking down on illegal contact. Whatever that is.
8. The preseason play calling reminded me of Scott Linehan's best effort.
9. We might actually win six games this year.

Stafford played ONE series. Bush played 1 or 2. I never even seen Tate after his 15 yd catch. Calvin didn't play. It's impossible to make that call from watching a minute of football. You're reaching now.....get real.

Im reaching cause he played 26 snaps and did nothing? Youre the one saying we have quality guys behind cj that can produce....they didn't. Ebron played well into the game against worthless scrubs. ..and did nothing.

Who played 26 snaps? Ebron? So what?! lol. Wtf did you expect? 125 yds and 2 TDs? Of course you did..lol. It's the 1st preseason game, you imbecile. He had Orlovski and Moore throwing him the football. They're terrible!! No CJ, Tate played one series i think, no Bush. And Ebron beat that LB on that fly up the sideline. Should have been a penalty. You're clueless.

And i said Tate and Ebron were great additions to this team. They will produce during the season. Only a moron like yourself would judge the offense after one preseason game. Ebron was playing with Moore, Orlovski, Winn, Peacock, Durham, Broyles, Ross and God knows who else. The Browns weren't the only team playing with scrubs. You're such a troll lol

Oh, and Stafford to Tate for 15 was a thing of beauty. But that's not producing, right? You're such a tool, buddy lol

Excellent summary, I'd say it was all pretty accurate

Moore will likely-eventually latch on with another team, then get a start vs the Lions, when he will torch them for several/multiple TDs.

2. Kellen Moore is better than Stafford, it's a crime he never gets an opportunity

Damn but that seems soo familiar.

Uhh...lessee...Munson/Landry...Landry/Danielson...Danielson/Komlo Danielson/Hipple..Hipple/Ferguson...Ferguson/Long...Long/Hilger...Peete/Gagliano...Peete/Kramer..Mitchell/Batch...Batch/Frerotte...Harrington/Garcia...Kitna/Culpepper...Stafford/???...Seen them all and skipped a few..aahaha...gulp!!

match up nightmare....cant beat a rookie lb I never heard of in a preseason game. man v man most of the game and he was blanketed. not sure what that has to do with who is playing qb. and as far as no cj....that was supposed to be your point...that we have weapons that can produce without cj. I guess I have to say it again....he didn't.

But he did beat his man. TWICE!! One on the play across the middle, bad throw, Ebron off balance reaches down and gets a short gain. Better throw and it's a possible big gainer. The other was on the fly up the sidelines. Clearly has a step on the LB and the defender throws his hands in Ebron's face and doesn't even turn his head around. A penalty 9x out of 10. Throw was short too. So don't give me your bullshit about the QBs. Stafford has a better chance of making those throws.

And we do have players besides CJ who will make plays. It's preseason, you dumbass. I guess Marquise Lee from the Jaguars is a bust? 0 catches, 0 targets in his 1st game. STFU

I really hope Caldwell cuts the shit with Ebron playing 900 different positions. They didn't draft him to play out of the backfield. Stop confusing the kid, just let him figure out his position first before you turn him into Shane Halter.

I'd rather Ebron be a versatile weapon than anything. The best TEs are playing all over the formation (though admittedly not out of the backfield) these days. I'd rather live through a few wrong routes throughout the year but actually threaten the defense with different looks. Part of our problem last year was the team's predictability. If we limit Ebron to only a handful of routes or only a couple formations, teams will figure it out real quick and he won't be able to pose much of a threat when the defender can get to his spot from the jump.

He's here to learn. He admitted it was a bit much but says he is adjusting just fine. The whole offense is learning different positions....

Mil, the best players in the league are specialists. Calvin doesn't line up as a TE. Bell never lines up along with the WRs (Bush does every now and again). If Ebron can master being a tight end first, then you can start to tinker with goofy ass formations. If he is as talented and as skillful as everyone claims, it doesn't matter where he lines up, he'll win his battles. I just don't like seeing everything forced on the dude at once.

I don't want to see him in the backfield as an RB/FB period. That's too much.

But that is the offense. What do you think they're doing with the kid? He is here to do exactly that. What kind of statement is that? lol

Shit, so I guess when they drafted Ebron, Barry should have said "With the 10th pick, the Detroit Lions selected TE/WR/RB/FB/QB Eric Ebron."

He's a hybrid TE/WR. Fine. Knock off the backfield stuff. Hell, even Jimmy Graham who is the major comparison to Ebron never lines up in the backfield.

Let the kid figure out his damn position first.
