Preseason Game 1: Patriots @ Lions Thread

Would like to see them cut down on the penalties. Got start somewhere so discipline is where they should start. But I could careless about preseason games and remember we shellacked the Patriots 26-10 last season so this is a revenge game for New England Lol.

We just need 3 td?s !

Idiot in the booth is about to interview Hock , so the play right before he thinks that Hock dropped the ball on a pass .

Not a great way to get the fans base excited by getting shellacked in the opening preseason game:/

Do I expect crispness No. But this is pathetic as our backups flat out stink. We are getting whipped!

Sign Crabtree and it?s an upgrade

Kearse better than Crabtree at this point in their careers , Kearse was solidifying the 4th WR spot . Tough blow , but if they NOW wanted to go get Crabtree it couldnt hurt

I am very disappointed in last nights performance. I excepted more crispness from the Lions for some odd reason in year 2 of Patricia. Hopefully things will improve fast. But that is not a great way to drum up fan support.

I generally don’t care about preseason as it’s a mix of coaching experiments and 3rd stringers fighting for a roster spot, but let’s hope the offense can stay healthy...the depth isn’t promising.

The oline depth is not good. The offense that did play seemed off the whole night, however, I'll chalk that up to the fact that our bad 3rd string qb played all but 2 drives. Savage actually had some decent throws on his few drives before being knocked out due to piss poor line

The defense played almost zero starters or even backups along the line. The guys that started probably won't make the roster, so them getting no pressure is expected. The starting lbs played ok. I was impressed by tavai on his few snaps. Reeves-maybin might be ready to step up. Tre Lamar had some decent plays. The dbs looked like they need more snaps and will hopefully improve. Agnew showed some flashes of being in the right place against an athlete like harry. He got beat on the jump ball which most likely will happen to a few people this year. Hopefully when the dline is healthy we wont be giving qbs an eternity to throw the ball. Also amani oruwariye had an up and down night but i think he's got potential.

Lots of backups and some won't make the team. NE played with backups where some won't make their team. A big problem for Detroit over the year is when a starter gets hurt we go from a below average team to a team that's terrible.

I think the defense will surprise people but the offense is unknown and I suspect a fairly low ceiling with Bevell?s philosophy. I know there were some shitty players at key positions last night but a ~20 min ToP and two drives that went beyond 4 plays isn?t a recipe for success regardless of how the defense plays.
