Preseason Game 2: Lions @ Redskins Thread

Kyle Van Noy and Larry Webster were terrible yesterday. And Gabe Wright in run defense was awful too.

It's really a bummer he hasn't translated to the NFL. He wasn't a good college QB, he was a great college QB. Cannot throw the ball hard at all, but he is really good at dropping it right where it needs to go. Sadly in the NFL, gotta have some velocity.

There are lots of great college QBs that don't translate.

I understand. But seeing as how he is a Detroit Lion, it sucks to hear that he has not turned out to be anything good.

Moore looks like he is throwing a football filled with Velveta shells and cheese.

Few posts actually make me laugh out loud.

This one did......not only because of the visual picture I get but because its so fucking TRUE.

Well done, sir.

We blitzed RGIII 3 times. 1/3 with Levy hit and Whitehead bat down. Other blitz on 3rd and 21 where he dumped it for 4. The 3 sack plays we didn't blitz.

Can't wait to see more next week against Jacksonville.

I can wait. Preseason is a snooze-fest. Even the most hardened NFL fans have to be falling asleep by the 3rd quarter.

I was at the game yesterday. Love the pre-season too but regular season and playoffs more. Get to see all of the roster compete.

I wouldn't go to a pre-season game...hell, I don't even like going to regular season games.

My wife suggested we all (my family of 5) go to a Lions preseason game. I laughed. Her response was that the kids would like the experience. I laughed again. I will NEVER go to a preseason game unless a personal friend/relative were playing in it.

So, unless my 8 or 4 year old makes the Lions 90 man roster one day.......that wont happen!!

Now, two years ago I took my then 7 year old to the Monday Night Ravens game. THAT was fucking awesome. We got there before gates opened so we could see as much as possible. Got to see the WR warm up from field level. Took a ton of pictures.

Live football games are the single best fan/stadium experience you can get.....IMO.

I used to like going to a game every year but it just gets old. Driving an hour, parking, crowds...it just isn't fun. I had a good friend that worked for the Lions so he got 2 season tickets. He never used them since he usually had to entertain clients during the home games. I could have had them any time I wanted and I only took him up on it once. Went to the Bears game on MNF. Ended up in the MGM suite, left the game early and went to the casino.

If I am going to watch football I would rather watch it at home.

I disagree a bit. I love football and all, but nothing beats an NHL playoff game for me. Basically non stop action with maybe 5-10 minutes total of stoppage during each period. In football, there are enough timeouts to make me want to pull my eyes out.

I think you're missing out. But to each his own.

To me, I got hooked going to the Silverdome to watch some short dude wearing #20. Every time he touched it there was a buzz......and when he broke the first level.....BOOM......70,000+ fans go nuts at the same moment. Saw some great games there. Saw the game he went over 2,000 live. Same game Reggie Brown was injured.

Again, I know every fan is different and I'm certainly not saying you're wrong in your opinion. I just love watching football games live.

For be the best game to attend live is Baseball because it's such a family atmosphere. A lot of teams now let kids come down on the field before or after the game and run the bases. They have crews that throw shirts and balls into the crowd. Players make an outfield catch and toss the ball as a kid.

Baseball is really going out of it's way to make it an experience the little ones never forget. Plus, who doesn't like sitting out having a cold beer and watching a ball game with the sun shining on your face?

Hockey games are much more awesome in person than on tv. You really don't appreciate how fast these guys are moving unless you see it live. While I think it's fine to go to an NFL game here and there, I don't find it as "amazing" or different to watch it in person as I do on tv.

Maybe its because I went to about 7 Michigan football home games a year for about 12 years straight. Kind of loses its appeal after a while.

Baseball is more of a social event for a lot of people. You can go and not really focus on the game as much and just enjoy being outside with friends and family.

For other sports your attention has to be on the game pretty much constantly.

I agree. I go to 5 games a year...all minor league games. Very relaxing and a good time for a family.

I know football is king, but there is a LOT of down time in the sport. It's the white elephant in the room when it comes to football. I get very annoyed even watching on TV when there is a timeout, kickoff, timeout. It just breaks up the flow of the game horribly.

And yes, you don't appreciate how fast NHL hockey is until you are there.

Basketball, floor seats. Your seats are on the playing surface.
