Raiola reportdly told no thanks

No surprise, Swanson is an upgrade, hopefully Sims was told the same thing

It's funny where we have two players who got picked on and rightfully so, Raiola and Backus, but they suited up just about every game. And yet now we have so many injuries on the line..maybe they don't make 'em like they use to..

Who are Detroit fans more happy about losing, Don Kelly or Dom Douchebag?

How many of those position can he play well? I'll give you a hint, it's less than one.

Backus was a damn good LT for a long time. I don't recall him ever doing anything stupid like stomping on someone's ankles. He whiffed on Peppers when Stafford got hurt but come on, that was like one of very few instances that he fucked up. Dom on the other hand was a low class piece of shit for many many years.

I didn't mean he was similar to Raiola but people complained about him a lot..His playing everyday was great but I saw him as an average LT. In hindsight, I almost wish he whiffed once more so Matt could get slammed..

They're doing more things that make good sense than in the past. Raiola would have had an AARP card before they let him go awhile back.

Amazing how ok-at-best draft picks make these old guys become less worth keeping around. If only they had drafted or acquired a FA center years ago, eh?

Of course, with how shitty the Lions OL has been for the past 50 years, Dom probably deserves to have his jersey retired. Just like Stafford is the team's all time leader in so many QB stats and is destined to have his jersey retired one day despite being pretty average overall and not yet earning his paycheck. Maybe next year...(Lions team motto).

I wanted Alex Mack really bad with our 20th pick in 2009...instead we got Pettigrew

I wanted Ray Maualuga so bad I was yelling at my TV, and then they called for Droptimus Prime and I was screaming at my TV.

My first thought was "Shit, Slick called that too...."

Yeah he did call that..

I think the only 1st round draft pick I liked over the past 10 years is Suh. Of course, at that point in the draft a monkey would have made the same pick.

This is going back a bit, but pretty sure I wanted Mack or Oher at #20. I distinctly remember hating the Pettigrew pick. I think I lost my shit at #33 when we took Delmas over ReyRey and Laurinitis. There are so many disappointing drafts as a Lions fan that they all start running together.

My personal 1st round rankings for the Mayhew era

At the time of the pick
1. Stafford (Obvious pick at the time)
2. Suh (I was actually split between Suh/Okung)
3. Reiff (Need pick)
4. Ansah (Big potential, success could turn a good D-line into greatness)
5. Pettigrew (I was really high on him at the time of the pick)
6. Fairley (Good value, but afraid that DT was becoming the new WR)
7. Best (Was puzzled, didn't think the Lions should've traded up here)
8. Ebron (Furthest thing from a need)

Now
1. Suh (Dominant, huge impact on defense, all-pro)
2. Ansah (Progressing well, will probably get a big paycheck once his contract is up)
3. Reiff (Successor to Backus, not great but good enough, mostly reliable)
4. Stafford (Had one great season, the rest he hasn't lived up to the hype IMO)
5. Fairley (Flashes of greatness, struggled with injuries/work ethic)
6. Ebron (Only here because he still has potential and the last two are even worse)
7. Pettigrew (Serviceable, but hardly worth where he was drafted, drop problems galore)
8. Best (Concussion problems carried over to the NFL, barely contributed due to this and retired early)
